Thanks so much to Amanda Curtin () for coming in to sign her very exciting, brand new novel Six Days!

It's about Daniel, an Australian expat who's lived in Paris more than forty years. He's made a mess of his life and is trying to atone – become the 'good man' his friend Marcelline believes him to be. But Marcelline has disappeared, the quotidian world has been tipped out of balance and Daniel makes an error of judgment that places at risk everything he values.

We were starstruck recently when Perth influencer came in with his people!

Buddy bought Dog Domino, a great way to involve younger members of the family who might be less interested in counting dots (BORING) and more interested in ones where you match dog breeds (YAY DOGS!)

We're betting Buddy will be top dog at this game ... (sorry)

We are a full service bookshop here at Beaufort Street Books – your best friend gets a treat, a drink from our water bowl and plenty of pats as well as a fashion shoot if desired 😉

Also, when it is thundery like it was on Monday, we offer shelter and cuddles (though we didn't photograph that Labrador as he had enough on his mental plate dealing with the storm).

📢Attention teachers, principals, parents and P&C associations! Did you know we do school book fairs? This initiative provides school communities with an alternative to the book-shopping catalogue service that customarily and regularly goes home with primary-school kids, and lets them instead choose to support a small, independent, local business.

📖Similarly to what you might be familiar with, a percentage of the proceeds go to the school's library, but our catalogue is based on the Australian Booksellers Association's Kids' Reading Guide. We here at Beaufort Street Books, however, expand it to include

- a handpicked selection reflecting what each school community is interested in
- our own experience and feedback from our wider customer base
- Books by any author the school has organised to visit for Book Week
- We ensure it's is low on landfill and high on quality
- Orders can be in person or online

🙋‍♀️Our store manager Jen, who's got 10 years' experience with this program, accommodates each school's needs and desires on the logistics, but usually around Book Week time (before or after is also OK), we come out to set up a the "Book Fair" and kids can walk through with their classes, and this gives them the opportunity to see and pick up the books as well as look at a catalogue. Then there is a few days of buying, during which parents can not only buy a book for their child which will benefit the library, but can also buy a book directly for the library which provides even more support.
And it doesn't have to be Book Week – we can create a catalogue specifically for your school at an agreed alternative time of year if desired.

The schools we serve include Coolbinia (pictured is their fair this week) Winthrop, Carmel, Highgate and Sacred Heart – if you would like to make an inquiry, send us a DM or an email to [email protected].
