Sabre is delighted to be assisting the Gold Coast Light Horse Museum at Mudgeeraba Showgrounds develop the ‘Timeline of The Australian Soldier’ displays.

Work started today on some of the Peacekeeper displays along with some more artefacts being added to the Iraq / Afghanistan and Vietnam War sections. More mannequins and artefacts to come, so it’s still a work in progress, but coming along nicely.

Great to have the peacekeepers showcased as so many Aussie troops have contributed a great deal to the many UN and other missions Australia has been involved with. These displays will be seen by many school and community groups who cycle through the museum education programmes along with casual visitors.

A great little museum that is well worth a visit.

A genuine Helveyknit of Salisbury Rhodesian Army pullover and SAS Stable Belt obtained from a Rhodesian veteran in the mid 80’s. Small stitched repair to neckline by original owner and some fraying to stable belt in one area. Now rare pieces of the bushwar history with replicas now being made of this Howard Green style jumper due to their extreme rarity.

Military History Museum Project: The Australian Soldier at War and Peace
Sabre Militaria is proud to be assisting the Gold Coast Light Horse Education Museum with the creation of an important new series of displays designed to help educate visiting school and community groups.

The Gold Coast Light Horse Education Museum is something of a hidden gem, located at the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds amongst the beautiful heritage-listed buildings and grounds of the historic Schmidt Farmhouse complex.

With some wonderful history, artefacts and displays already in place, the new Timeline of the Australian Soldier at War and Peace project aims to create a chronological journey through Australia’s military history for visiting students, families and community groups.

With Vietnam Veterans’ Day approaching, and many visiting school students having parents, grandparents or other relatives connected with more recent conflicts, we decided to begin with the Vietnam War and Iraq/Afghanistan eras.
