To my Valued Customers,

I have made the very hard decision to end my relationship with Telstra and sell the Gavin Ford Mobiles shop after more than 30 years as a Telstra dealer.

The decision to close my business has not been an easy one. As a third generation Mundubbera - born resident and a business owner for 33 years, it is very difficult for me to contemplate the possibility of letting residents down.

We have thrived on providing a professional yet personal service to our local customers, something you rarely get in the bigger towns. Being located in Mundubbera has saved our customers time and the inconvenience of having to drive hours to the next Telstra location or endure the dreaded telephone enquiry waiting times.

Unfortunately, Telstra’s current inflexible rules, accompanied with strict legal regulations, have made it impossible to run a Telstra dealership in a rural area and has ultimately forced my decision.
One of the rules is that we can’t sell to Family, Friends, or Acquaintances which is most of my business & has been the turning point.

I would like to recognise the significant contribution my tremendous staff have made to the success of my business over the years. I consider each and every one of them some of my closest friends and I thank them sincerely for their commitment and dedication. A special mention goes to Bronwyn Maddern and Cara Pieters. Bronwyn has kept the financial side of the business on track for 28 years. For almost 14 years, Cara has been working for me and in later years, managing the telecommunications side of the business, with hardly a day off during this time.

Finally, the business would not have been as successful as it has, without my loyal and valued customers. Please accept my sincere appreciation for your custom and support of my business.
We will continue to provide services until the last day of trade, on 30 June 2023.

The new owner, Luke Scott will be taking over our premises with his business of LDS Technology Solutions. His business will continue on with their delivery of services and repairs for all phones, tablets, computers and printers, along with hardware and software maintenance. Luke will continue to provide remote support and onsite assistance to his valued customers. In this new space, LDS Technology Solutions will expand into the sale of computers, speakers, software, virus protection, cloud storage and website development, along with continuing in the sales of unlocked telephone handsets, Cel-Fi Boosters, security cameras, and all accessories for your technology needs. As I explained, Telstra in rural and remote areas has become a challenge, and Luke will not be continuing the Partnership with Telstra.

LDS Technology Solutions will commence trading on the 24th July. Please welcome and support Luke in his new venture. He and his fiancée Brittany will be here to stay as locals for the long-term, to continue on providing technology services to Mundubbera and the surrounding North Burnett communities. They both will be happy to assist you as much as they can and I wish them every success for the future.
