A huge thank you to the Sunshine Valley Gazette team for helping us share this exciting initiative with the community 🎉.
The response so far has been fantastic, the box is already half full and we'd love to keep the momentum going. If you're able to donate, please help us keep the box topped up with much-needed items for the Nambour Community Centre.
Every contribution counts and is greatly appreciated. Let's work together to make a positive impact! ❤️
Nambour Plaza donation box helps local charities & groups
Shoppers will notice a new fixture at Nambour Plaza, with the recent addition of a large hand made timber donation box near Woolies, courtesy of the Nambour Men's Shed.
“We had our first conversation about this commission with representatives from the Nambour Men’s Shed back in May,” said centre manager, Michelle Lees.
“We liked the idea of having a central place where people could make donations to local charities and organisations, and the thought that members of our Men’s Shed could construct the box for us, was even better.”
The first organisation that will benefit from the concept is Nambour Community Centre.
“We reached out to the Community Centre to see if they were interested in taking part in this idea, and they were very happy to,” she said.
“They have given us a list of items that would be particularly useful to their clients, and it will be attached to the box. That way, people will be able to make a really useful contribution.”
Ongoing, centre management will identify local organisations that may benefit from the donation box.
“Right now, we will play it by ear, but we envisage the box being used by a single organisation for up to 4 weeks at a time,” Ms Lees said. “We would also love to hear from any other community groups that would like to participate.”
