40 EYEBROW WAXES...

That’s how much my proposed rent increase equates to.
Just to keep the doors open! Not including electricity, insurance, products, or a single dollar in income.

I’ve mentioned recently that I received notice of a rental increase. Today, I want to share what that really looks like behind the scenes, because I think a lot of people would be genuinely shocked.

My little Camden salon is exactly that: little.
Just 30 square meters.
(Chances are your garage is bigger.)

And yet, my new rent would cost the same as a four-bedroom home in Elderslie.
Or, in beauty terms: about 40 eyebrow waxes. Every Week. Just for rent.

I understand this is part of running a business I love.
I’m not sharing this for sympathy or a "poor me" moment.
But I do think it’s important to understand why more and more small businesses are quietly closing their doors.

The cost of living crisis isn’t just impacting households. It’s also affecting the small businesses you pass on the street.
That $6 coffee you buy?
Your local café needs to sell over 100 of those a week just to stay open.

So if you love your local salon, café, florist, gift shop, boutique clothing store please support them however you can.

Here is Stacey , she is my best friend.
Back in 2009 when I worked as Dominos delivery driver.
She was my area manager who seen my ability to work (not my English )
She is the one who give me opportunities to be Manager.
After that I get to learn so many skills.
And when I want to step out to do my own business, she is the one who said YOU CAN DO IT !
