In Afghanistan in the 10th century, carrots were first domesticated as a food crop. The majority of them were a deep purple color, however, others were yellow. Carrot seeds ultimately found their way to Europe. Over time, humans discovered that the yellow carrots had a milder flavor than the dark purple ones, which were somewhat bitter.

🌱 There are roughly 1,000 different varieties of bamboo, and while many of them grow quickly, only a handful of them can grow at Guinness World Record rates. The latest record is astonishingly fast—35 inches, or almost three feet, in a day. In temperate regions, growth rates are more often 1 to 4 inches per day, which is still a significant amount.
