Just a little message that we will be closed tomorrow for the Public Holiday. Back at the shop Thursday!

In the meantime, our online store remains open, with any orders shipped Thursday or Friday this week.

Both ourselves and sister stores will be open for extra Christmas trading this week, open Tuesday 23rd, 10am until 4.30pm and Christmas Eve 10am until 2pm. So if you have gifting needs not fulfilled, call in and find that little special something. Diana at and Shelby are both on hand to quell the last-minute panic!

We will then be closed for a much-needed break until New Year’s Day, reopening Friday 2nd January.

Our online store will remain open, with any orders placed after 12pm Christmas Eve sent after our break.

With only one week until Christmas Day, a little reminder about our upcoming Christmas trading. We are open each and every day to Christmas Eve, 10am until 4.30pm with the exception of Christmas Eve whereby we will close early at 2pm. With our extended trading days to include our normally closed Tuesday and Wednesday, we hope this helps all our locals and visitors with last minute gift-buying!

We will then take a short break from Christmas Day until New Year’s Day, reopening Friday 2nd January.

Happy 6th birthday Miss Arthur! Actually, we missed her birthday and are a few days late. Ooops. I’m sure she won’t mind. She’s been busy, as have we. It was this time 6 years ago that we had transformed not the prettiest of buildings on our street into the lovely Miss Arthur. Stripped her from her ugly awning and aluminum additions, and reinstated a bespoke wood shopfront and windows. Peeled off the paint from the convict bricks to allow her to breathe again. Commissioned a local sign-writer to hand letter her name across the front. And then, we took a deep breath and opened her doors for the first time to show everyone what we could see. A beautiful old shop waiting for new life.

And she has rewarded us time and time again with her bones and warmth, welcoming all who visit with all-round good vibes. We are lucky to have found her, when she was waiting right next door all those years for us to finally see her.

We can’t believe it’s now October and we are placing orders for Christmas! Oh, and planning the sweet spot for installing a Christmas display. Too soon, and it’s just plain annoying. Too late, and customers are asking for Christmas goodies. Haha, not that it is a big worry, we will get it mostly right. But seriously, where has the year gone?

It will reach 20 degrees today, and 24 tomorrow. Warm enough to say that Spring has arrived. It’s always a bit late in Tassie. But we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

In case it isn’t obvious, we have an infinity for well-made Japanese products. And after a recent family holiday in Japan, with a bit of business thrown in, this is only set to expand!
