An interesting read and an issue I have discussed in the past. We just dont own anything anymore. There are so many other reasons that streaming is killing the film industry, but control over what you can and can't watch and how is definitely the worst.

The lastest series of Black Mirror (ironically only streaming on Netflix) has an episode involving subscription based life saving medical care in the form of a service you literally need to survive, but that without the premium tier uses you to advertise products as well as restricting your ability to travel outside of supported zones.

It is getting to the stage where a show like this, that is intentionally trying to show you how bad it could be, gives big pharma the idea and life imitates art and not the other way around.

We all need to buy more DVDs and Blu-rays.
