Grief can be a lonely place. How have you shown support for a friend during a time of need?

Grief can be a lonely place. How have you shown support for a friend during a time of need?

Someone told me recently that her friends have not been there for her during her time of grief. She said that one of them told her it is time to "get over it" and move on. She lost her husband less than a year ago... you do NOT just "move on" from that and it hurts my heart when people do not understand that.

On the flip side of this, I received an email yesterday from someone off this FB page thanking me for creating a space that people can feel supported and cared for, even though they might be complete strangers. She said that she mentioned losing her daughter a few years back and still struggles with the ache in her heart. Someone off this site reached out to her, actually many did, but one person in particular, reached out and started to send her daily messages offering comfort and support to her, and they have created a friendship.

Hard times reveal many things, but most importantly the light it shines on the ones that step up for us. Gravitate towards that light, to those people. And while someone else might not get what you need, don't cast them aside, they are there for you in other ways, don't give up on them, just know that all people cannot be all things... and that is okay.

And relative to grief... don't ever tell someone to move on and get over it... ❤️
