We promote shopping, supporting and thinking local for the benefit of everyone in the community. We are a vibrant, enthusiastic volunteer association that is striving to add value to the community through the improvement of Newportโ€™s business environment while also attracting further business to the area for the benefit of everyone in our community. Our primary goal is to support each other and ma

rket the vast array of businesses that are located in Newport as well as provide important support and information to business owners. We do this by marketing businesses on our website, across the Newport Traders Association's social media accounts and even across billboards at Newport Station. Newport Traders Association also advocates for local businesses. By liaising with council and other government departments and agencies, the Newport Traders Association can assist with issues that affect all members. If you have an issue, we're here to help. Overall, our desired outcome is for locals to understand that Newport has much to offer. We want people to 'think localโ€™ because by doing so, they might just be surprised by everything Newport has to offer. Every community has its unsung heroes โ€” the people who quietly make Newport a better place through kindness, generosity and service to others.

Maybe they:
โค๏ธ Volunteer at a local sporting club or community group
โค๏ธ Check in on elderly neighbours or lend a helping hand
โค๏ธ Help bring in bins, mow lawns or support others without being asked
โค๏ธ Organise community activities or fundraising events
โค๏ธ Go out of their way to make someoneโ€™s day a little brighter

Now it's time to recognise them ๐Ÿ†

๐‹๐จ๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐‹๐ž๐ ๐ž๐ง๐๐ฌ is a new Visit Newport initiative celebrating the people making a positive difference in our community.

Each month, the Newport Traders Association will select one Local Legend to receive $250 in vouchers to spend at participating Newport businesses of their choice.

Our hearts are with our neighbours in Spotswood following the devastating fire earlier this week.

We extend our sincere sympathy to the businesses and individuals who have lost so much, as well as those affected by the ongoing road closures, disruptions and loss of trade in the days since.

As neighbouring business communities, we stand with you and want to help where we can.

Last night, representatives from Newport Traders Association had the pleasure of attending a meeting with the Rotary Club of Williamstown at Pelicanโ€™s Landing to discuss how our organisations can work together to strengthen community connections and create positive local impact.

Our conversation focused on the power of collaboration, and how bringing together volunteers, community groups and local businesses can help support vibrant, engaged and thriving neighbourhoods.

We explored opportunities surrounding Newportโ€™s much-loved annual Halloween event, including ways local traders may be able to contribute to, and benefit from, an initiative that brings hundreds of people together and activates our village each year.

There is much for both groups to reflect on, and weโ€™re excited by the possibilities that may emerge through shared purpose, community service and partnership.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Williamstown for welcoming us. We look forward to reconnecting after further conversations with our traders.

Strong communities are built through collaboration, and weโ€™re excited to see where these discussions may lead โœจ
