🦘👑 The Duke of Orleans Bay — Protector of the Land

Standing watch where the wild coastline meets the Southern Ocean.

No crown. No castle. No throne.

Just ancient land beneath his feet, salt carried on the wind, and an unspoken duty to protect the place he calls home. 🌊🌿

The Duke of Orleans Bay — guardian of the coastline, keeper of the wild, and protector of the land.

Some protectors don’t need armour.

They simply belong to the land they guard. 🦘🪶

🪶 A MESSAGE FROM COUNTRY — LUCKY BAY

A spiritual reflection inspired by my time at Lucky Bay — honouring Country, its Traditional Owners, and the ancient relationship Aboriginal people have maintained with this land.

“You came here believing you were visiting a beautiful place.

But something much older was waiting for you.

Look beyond the white sand.
Beyond the turquoise water.
Beyond the kangaroos resting peacefully beside the sea.

This Country remembers.

Long before roads brought travellers here, long before maps gave these places English names, Aboriginal people knew this land.

They walked with it.

They listened to it.

They understood something the modern world is only beginning to remember:

The land was never something to conquer.
It was something to care for.

And now you are witnessing another chapter.

Not a surrender of one people to another.

Not the loss of Country.

But a recognition that the oldest relationship with this land never disappeared.

The handing back of Country carries a message far greater than ownership.

It asks humanity to reconsider what it means to belong somewhere.

Perhaps we were never meant to ask:

“Who owns this land?”

Perhaps the deeper question has always been:

“Who will protect it?”

That is why places like Lucky Bay feel different.

The ocean still speaks.

The animals still wander.

The wind still moves across Country carrying stories far older than any one lifetime.

Stand quietly here.

Listen.

Because Country does not need another person claiming it.

Country needs custodians.

People willing to leave something sacred for the generations who have not yet arrived.

And perhaps that is the real handover taking place in this era:

From ownership
back to custodianship.

From domination
back to relationship.

From taking
back to protecting.

The old wisdom was never gone.

Humanity simply became too loud to hear it.

And now Country is asking us to listen again.”

🪶 Respect the old ways.
Protect what cannot be replaced.
Leave the Earth more sacred than you found it.

🌅 As the sun sets on my time at Wharton Beach, I leave you with this message…

Some places you visit.

Others leave something within you.

My time here has reminded me that we are not separate from the land beneath our feet, the ocean before us, or the generations who walked this Country long before we arrived.

So as I watch the sun disappear beyond another horizon, I leave with gratitude — and with a deeper understanding that perhaps our purpose was never to own the Earth.

Perhaps it was always to protect her.

🪶 Respect the old ways.
Protect what cannot be replaced.
Leave the Earth more sacred than you found it.

A spiritual reflection inspired by my time on Country — honouring its Traditional Owners and the ancient relationship Aboriginal people have maintained with this land.

A MESSAGE FROM THE ANCESTORS 🪶

“We have watched you from beyond the veil.

And never have we witnessed a time when a woman could walk this Earth with so much freedom.

You carry choices we never had.

We were daughters who obeyed.
Wives who endured.
Mothers who sacrificed.
Women whose dreams were buried beneath duty, survival and silence.

Many of us could not choose whom we married.
We could not simply leave.
We could not always own what we earned.
We could not travel the world alone.
We could not speak our truth without consequence.

But you can.

And when you choose yourself, understand this:

You are not only choosing for you.

You are choosing for every woman in your bloodline who never had the choice.

When you board the plane, we travel with you.

When you build something of your own, we stand beside you.

When you leave the table where you are no longer respected, generations of women rise with you.

When you refuse to make yourself smaller to keep another comfortable, something ancient within the bloodline is healed.

Do not mistake your freedom for selfishness.

Your freedom was dreamed of long before you arrived.

We did not endure so that you could inherit our cages.

We endured so that one day, a daughter of our bloodline might finally open the door and walk through it.

So go.

Travel.

Create.

Love deeply.

Leave when love becomes captivity.

Speak.

Lead.

Build.

Rest.

Begin again.

Choose the life that calls your soul.

You do not have to repeat our stories to honour us.

Live the life we were never allowed to live.

Become the woman we could only dream would one day exist.

And when the world asks who gave you permission…

Remember us.

We did.”
