We removed almost 10 kg of factory sound deadening from this Mitsubishi Evolution IX Wagon MR using dry ice 🧊

Why remove it instead of installing new material straight on top?

The factory deadening is old, heavy and doesn’t provide the level of vibration control we’re looking for. Dry ice allows us to make it brittle and remove it cleanly without damaging the metal underneath.

This gives us a clean, solid surface for our modern vibration damping system — better adhesion, better performance, and no unnecessary layers of old material underneath.

Now this Evo is ready for a proper soundproofing upgrade. 🔧

This LandCruiser 70 Series arrived with far more rust than we expected. Before installing a single sheet of STP material, we spent two full days cleaning, preparing and protecting the metal with a galvanised zinc coating to help prevent future corrosion.

During preparation, we found surface rust hidden beneath the factory sound deadening, along with poorly installed aftermarket insulation throughout the car, including the doors.

Before moving forward, we removed all old materials using dry ice, then properly cleaned and prepared the body for premium STP soundproofing.
