Having a clean up recently we discovered a slightly weathered copy of one of Adelaide's much loved free music news mags – Rip It Up the 1999 Big Day Out issue.
Oddly coincidental timing because of the very recent passing of the Big Day Outs' founder Ken West.
We must've kept a copy of this particular one because of our slightly underwhelming ad way back on page 28.
Over a number of Big Day Out gigs, Pawnbrokers World and our founding sister store in Gouger St, Adelaide Central Pawnbrokers, were featured in booklets given to BDO touring bands offering them helpful info about the cities they were in; best local pubs, places to eat and good spots to shop. Both our shops rated highly for music gear.
We've had our fair share of famous faces through the doors - members of Powderfinger popping in one year and buying a rare, vintage Japanese Shin-ei fuzz pedal from us comes to mind.... ah the memories.
