Back just a little in time to the 5th and 6th August where I was proud to be invited to speak in Sydney where over 600 people gathered for the first Global Impact Summit led by Mike Gore and Joce Goto. It was a purpose-built gathering bringing together leaders across philanthropy, business, social enterprise, and the not-for-profit sector.
It was two of the most exciting days ever; the ideas, the drive the vision and positive energy with people of all ages, yet I would say the highest proportion were the young.
It was probably the best organised 'conference' ever with huge attention to detail and seamless flow and I thank Mike and Joce for bringing us all together. There was so much to learn about so many visionary not for profits that I came away from the two days feeling so many people were working on a better society for all. Mine was the last talk of the last day and even so an amazing crowd had gathered, and I felt really heard during my talk on 'For the Love of Ageing Well'.
Whilst the first day we were all together at the State Theatre for the presentations the second day was held at Walsh Bay Arts Precinct with break out rooms for each block where there were three choices of topic; all of them important themes so hard to choose but always so much to learn from others.
Breathing a sigh of relief to have completed my talk supported by Julia Davison the Chair of the Maggie B**r Foundation and Board Member Petrina Baker flanked either side and to my left Susie Meagher of the Wicking Trust who supported our new exciting initiative for the Foundation 'The Home Plate Project'
