Meet Neil and Neale (affectionately known as Charlie): best mates, co-owners, and the heart of our farm. Together, they’ve been part of this place for 97 years.
Charlie first joined the team at just 15 years old. His boss — and the farm’s founder — Jim Boucher, randomly started calling him “Charlie” to avoid confusion with another Neil on the team. The funny part? Neale’s actual middle name is Charlie… so the name stuck, and so did he.
Neil started 8 years earlier, after meeting Jim and Lorna Boucher through his girlfriend Robyn. That part-time job turned into a lifetime passion — and just last month, Neil and Robyn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. 🎉 If you see Robyn at the farm, wish her a happy anniversary!
Today, Neil is in his 52nd year growing Christmas trees. A farmer through and through, he loves the rhythm of the seasons… but his favourite part is watching families choose the tree that will fill their home with Christmas magic.
Charlie and his wife Kaye are also co-owners, and the farm continues to be a true family affair:
🌲 Their two daughters and partners have worked here over the years
🌲 Neil and Robyn’s three children, their partners, and now the grandkids are all part of the tradition too
When the Eastern Freeway was built, Neil, Robyn, Charlie and Kaye purchased the farm and moved it to Officer — which is why you drive to Officer to visit the Dandenong Christmas Tree Farm today!
For 65 years, this farm has been built on family, friendship, and a whole lot of hard work. We’re proud to still be here, growing real trees for real families.
Thank you for supporting our little family business — it means more than you know. ❤️🎄
