Absolutely not.

Pharmacist A1 👨‍⚕️💊 was obviously just suffering from allergies. 🥹🤧🌾
A particularly aggressive case, apparently. 😂

Thankfully, he was carried across the finish line by the amazing Ouyen Pharmacy and Taste Lab crews. Much appreciation to the team who kept everything moving when A1 was… experiencing his “allergies.” 💜😂 Believe it or not, A2 did a very good job of consoling right here !! 🫶🙏

💜👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ We love meeting inspiring clinicians along our journeys! 🩺💊

Recently, Pharmacist Audrey dropped into Ouyen 🌾💜 on her way to visit beautiful Lake Tyrrell. 🌅📸🚗

Audrey is one of our much-loved tutor pharmacists 👩‍🏫💊 for the Monash University Graduate Certificate in Pharmacist Prescribing course 🎓📚, so it was wonderful to see her outside the classroom! 🥰🙌

She also brought some very welcome words of encouragement 💜👏 as all three of our pharmacists head towards some pretty significant milestones… 😬🤞📚💊🎓

👨‍⚕️📚 Pharmacists A1 & A2 are preparing for their final oral examinations in Pharmacist Prescribing this week and next week. 💊🩺🎓🤞

Today I turned 35 🎈

Birthdays are absolutely not my thing 🙅🏼‍♂️… but my partner kindly reminded me that 35 is halfway to 70 🙄🤣

It did get me thinking… 🧐

I’ve been fortunate to spend a lot of my life chasing things I’m genuinely passionate about 🚀; building Ouyen Pharmacy 💊 and advocating for better rural healthcare. 🌾

It’s brought me enormous professional and personal satisfaction and happiness ☺️, but along the way I probably haven’t given my own health the same attention. 😅 Blood pressure, weight, sleep and exercise could all use some work!🤨

So, 35 is my year to change that. 💜

More time with family, my partner, friends and Happy the dog 🐕. More walks around Ouyen Lake. Better food (perhaps slightly less Rainbow Beef 🌈🤣), more exercise… and actually using my sleep apnoea CPAP! 😴

I’m incredibly grateful 🙏 for our Pharmacy and Taste Lab teams 🤝, and for a community that has embraced us, supported our ideas 💡 and made Ouyen feel like home. 🫶

And while I work on my own health, remember that we’re here to help with yours too. 💜👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

That’s why we specifically designed **three private clinic rooms** into our new premises - for your comfort, privacy and peace of mind.

If you’d like to speak privately with one of our pharmacists 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️, simply ask at either counter - **no explanation needed**. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Pharmacist Alex (A1) 👨‍⚕️💊 is currently in Brisbane ✈️ undergoing clinical placement with Dr. Anchita Karmakar in her multidisciplinary GP clinic.

It is refreshing to be surrounded by inspiring and inspired clinicians, and learn from each other. 💡

The placement has developed also a newfound respect 🫡 😲 for the incredible work of our primary care GPs and NPs who see the massive array of life 💜 and the complications/struggles/journeys that arise from it. 😔🥺 A job that requires such skill, knowledge and compassion.

A1 also completed clinical placement locally with NP Di Thornton from Mallee Border Health Centre 🩺.

Clinical placement🤓 is a part of our Pharmacist Prescribing studies with Monash University📚. It has been so refreshing and a valuable experience. Empowering us as pharmacists to better understanding the roles of our colleagues, while brainstorming 🧠 ways in which we can better collaborate clinically for the benefit of our mutual patients🫶.

Pharmacist prescribers are never wanting to replace the role of a GP or NP…Our goal is to complement care and provide better triage and improve health access for those who wouldn’t ordinary access services. Something that is so important in our rural/remote isolated town 🌾🐑 It’s all about teamwork ! 🤝

In the end, knowledge is power ✊, right?

A1 and A2 are on track to graduate 👨‍🎓 👩‍🎓by October. More services to follow in the pharmacy 👏 Keep an eye on this space! 👀

🌅 👣Apparently knowing what’s good for you and actually doing it are two different things. Rude. 😂

Pharmacist Alex (A1) 💊 is on a bit of a health journey himself🥸. Work, study, renovations, moving house, family coming ends… somehow self-care doesn’t always make it to the top of the list. 😓😓🫣🫣🫠

But better health doesn’t have to mean changing everything overnight. Each day is filled with countless opportunities to make a small change, that eventually add up! 💡

🚶‍♂️ Go for a walk, even if it is short (short is better than none!)
🍎 Choose the fruit… sometimes 😂
😴 Get to bed at a regular time
💨 Actually use your CPAP if you have sleep apnoea 💤
💊 Take your medicines regularly

This morning A1 and Happy hit the streets of Ouyen on his morning walk, and conveniently bumped into his MTHCS dietitian 🍏😅😂, after recently discussing the goal of walking more! 🤗

Nothing like some unexpected accountability! 🫶👏🥰 (chance encounter was not planned at all… we swear!!!🤣)

We’re lucky to have plenty of support locally too for any health journeys you may be on… expert pharmacists, GPs, NPs 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️🧑🏼‍⚕️ …
