A big ole chunk of honey opal 🥰 needs the 600, 1200 and polish yet.
Not sure what's in the middle and if that is the reason why there's flashes of colour?
Honey opal doesn't usually have colour flashes!
Very interesting piece

2 rubs (from a different parcel).. Theses are black opals from NSW that I put on the wheels (only up to 1200) last night. The jelly type has some nice colours (not being picked up by camera) but also has a fair few cracks :(
The pear shaped black opal is nice and should polish up beautifully.
After the last's nights disappointment with the 5 Lightening Ridge opals this makes me feel a tad better ha!

This is a definite loss 🤣
The stones were full of clay and cracks. No good for anything.
This parcel surprised me though. I thought I'd get some nice gems. Not to be!

I have some more rough coming in next week! This looks very promising :)

Purchased my first Australian Boulder opal rough. They are the second most valuable type of opal (following black opal).
Boulder opals are found in QLD and are easily distinguished by their layer of solid brown ironstone on the back.
Thin veins of colourful opal forms in cracks and fissures in these boulders.
Very excited to cut and polish these 🥰
