We're Casey and Claire, the husband-and-wife team behind StaycayWA, and if you've ever wondered what we're all about and how it all started, here's the story...👇
Nine years ago, while counting down the days until the birth of our first child, we booked our last holiday as kid-free people. TOBY HOME in Quindalup, between Busselton and Dunsborough, was our first private holiday stay. Up until then, we'd only ever stayed in hotels and caravan parks.
To be honest, it felt a little risky. There were no reviews, no history and we had no idea what to expect. But it turned out to be one of the best travel decisions we've ever made.
When we arrived, hosts Simon, Sonia and their three beautiful kids welcomed us like old friends. We were their very first guests, and they surprised us with a hamper filled with local produce, wine, beers and goodies. Combined with the stunning waterfront location overlooking Toby Inlet, it was the perfect start to our stay.
What stood out wasn't just the unique, compact accommodation Simon and Sonia had created. It was their hospitality, local knowledge and genuine care. They showed us that the best travel experiences aren't always about the biggest or fanciest places, but the people you meet and the connections you make along the way.
Luckily, we'd packed our camera and drone to capture precious memories. Looking back now, the video we shot became the inspiration behind StaycayWA and our dream of sharing the people, places and stories that make Western Australia so special.
Life, careers and raising three little people kept us too busy to turn that dream into reality for a while. But this year we decided it was time to give it a go.
We're still very much in the testing phase. We're taking our time, listening, learning and building something we hope will genuinely benefit travellers, while supporting local accommodation providers and businesses across Western Australia.
StaycayWA is about more than sharing holiday locations. We will celebrate the people, places, experiences and stories that make this big state so special.
We've got some exciting things in the pipeline. There might be an app, memberships, exclusive discounts and a few other surprises 😉 but we'll share those as we grow.
