Soppy post alert!

A few weeks ago my son was on his class trip to the school library when the librarian noticed he was reading one of my books.

Already super cute and beautiful to think that out of all the amazing books to choose from, he chose his Dad's.

Then his librarian, knowing it was mine, asked if he wanted to read it to the class. And apparently, without any hesitation he agreed, sat down in the big chair and his whole class gathered round for story time 🥹🥹🥹

What makes this even more wholesome is the fact that we had no idea he could read my book! His reading proficiency has shot up over the past few weeks and this, to our knowledge, is the first time he has read one of my books aloud!

Wherever my career goes, I think this will always remain my number one career highlight!

Out of my comfort zone with longer sessions and to bigger groups but man, I had a blast!

I wish I could do this full time - I love it!

136 picture books officially donated!

136 picture books that will now allow families to bond with their babies in NICU, even when they can't hold them.

136 picture books that will be forever special to them.

The ward was a bit busy today so a photo opportunity wasn't readily available and the last thing I want to do is disrupt the amazing nurses giving care. However, I did manage to grab a photo with a couple of the nurse coordinators.

Thank you to everyone who donated, lifted or even just shared the cause. It really does mean a lot to me.

Well, that was a book lovers dream come true: walking into the truly magical Paper Bird - Books & Arts and clearing their shelves of all their beautiful picture books!

$1605 worth of picture books for It’s from Elsie | Perinatal Bereavement and NICU charity !

And all thanks to Kilos of Kindness and everybody that so generously donated!

THANK YOU

It felt especially good shopping at Paper Bird, knowing that I was supporting, not only the best indie KidLit store in the world, but also my friends, peers and fellow creatives. All books were bought at a fair and ethical price.

And for all the families that will be gifted one of these books during such a difficult time, it makes my heart swell to know that they are getting the best that WA and Australia has to offer.

I will be taking the books to King Edward Memorial Hospital NICU on Thursday!

I was left unsupervised in the bookshop today with only the kids to advise me to practice some restraint - they were awful at this.

But we do have some epic books now!

Super excited for Kev & Kev 3! Kylie Howarth

We absolutely love the Poo in the Zoo books in our house so super excited to get these two additions! Ada Grey

And Hippobottymus!

I don't know why it's taken us this long to get Oh No by James Foley author/illustrator - I mean, we went to the book launch?! Ha ha

And I have heard wonderful things about Freddie Spector Fact Collector Ashleigh Barton Peter Cheong

Reminder...these are for the kids... definitely not for me! 😂
