: Perth and Peel will enter a four day full lockdown from midnight tonight (Mon 28/6) due to a third confirmed local case of COVID-19 in WA.
The latest case is a man in his 30s who worked at the Indian Ocean Brewery in Mindarie in Perth’s northern suburbs, it’s the second case to be linked to a 51-year-old physiotherapist, who tested positive at the weekend after visiting a known Sydney hotspot.
Mr McGowan said the latest case, known as case 1024, had only fleeting contact with the woman and ate a meal at the brewery the same night as her on June the 22nd.
He also confirmed genomic sequencing has revealed the 51-year-old woman has the Delta variant.
Earlier today, it was revealed a second local case was detected.. a 32-year-old woman who had also had fairly brief contact with the 51-year-old woman.
The four day lockdown means people must stay home unless they need to shop for essentials, attend medical appointments, to get vaccinated and unless they’re essential workers.
People will be allowed to exercise for one hour a day within a five kilometre radius from their home with one other adult from the property, children under 18 are exempted.
Schools and day care centres will remain open but community sport is not permitted.
Restaurants, bars, hotels and other venues can only remain open if they serve takeaway food.. the Casino will close along with other non-essential services including retail, beauty and hair salons.
