πŸ“ Lake Gnangara Park, Gnangara, Western Australia

Looking for a peaceful escape just outside Perth? πŸŒΏπŸ’™

Lake Gnangara Park is one of those hidden spots where you can slow down, enjoy the bush, spot local birdlife and take in the calm surroundings. Whether you're out for a walk, snapping a few photos or simply enjoying nature, it's well worth the visit.

πŸ₯Ύ A few tips before you go:
β€’ Visit early for the best light and a quieter experience.
β€’ Bring plenty of water, especially in summer.
β€’ Spring is the best time to see wildflowers and native birds.
β€’ Stick to the marked trails to help protect the environment.
β€’ Leave no trace and help keep this beautiful place pristine.

πŸ“– Did you know?
The name Gnangara comes from the Noongar language and is linked to water and wetlands. The lake is part of the Wanneroo wetland system and is supported by the Gnangara Mound, one of Perth's most important underground water sources. This area has been significant to the Noongar people for thousands of years and remains an important conservation area today.

Getting lost on a trail can happen faster than most people expect. A wrong turn, poor visibility or an unfamiliar track can quickly become stressful β€” and that is exactly when staying calm matters most.
If you realise you are lost, stop walking, take a breath and assess your surroundings. Avoid moving without a clear plan, as it may take you further away from your last known location.
Check your phone, GPS or offline map, and look for familiar trail markers. If you have signal, share your location with someone you trust or contact emergency services. A whistle, torch, bright clothing or reflective gear can also help make you easier to find.
In many situations, staying close to your last known location is safer than continuing to search for the trail. Move only when there is an immediate danger or when you are confident you know the correct direction.
Preparation always makes a difference. Before heading out, tell someone where you are going, check the trail conditions, download an offline map and carry essential safety gear.
The goal is not to panic. It is to stop, think clearly and make decisions that help rescuers find you.
Go out. Walk. Smile.
