Subject: Invitation: 20th Anniversary of Dr. John Garang & Launch of 2nd Edition of The Power of Creative Reasoning

Dear South Sudanese and Friends,

I hope this message finds you well.

It is with great honour that I invite you to a significant event hosted by Africa World Books in collaboration with South Sudanese community groups, commemorating the 20th Anniversary of Dr. John Garang’s passing. This occasion will also celebrate the launch of the much-anticipated second edition of The Power of Creative Reasoning by Dr. Lual A. Deng.

The event, themed “South Sudan Free from Tribalism and a Sense of Marginalisation,” as suggested by Dr. Lual, promises to be both inspiring and thought-provoking. It will provide a vital platform for dialogue and reflection on the critical issues facing South Sudan today—while honouring the legacy of Dr. Garang and the visionary insights of Dr. Lual.

Event Details:
Date: 30 July 2025
Time: 12:00 PM
Venue: Dove Hotel, Kigali, Rwanda

Your presence would be deeply appreciated and would greatly enrich the conversation as we work together toward a more united and inclusive South Sudan. Africa World Books remains committed to advancing literature and discussion that inspire social progress—and your participation would mean a great deal to us.

Kindly confirm your attendance at your earliest convenience. If you require further details or assistance, please feel free to contact us or connect with South Sudanese student leaders based in Kigali.

We look forward to welcoming you to this important gathering.

Warm regards,
Peter Lualplus Reech Deng

Romans 13:1 - "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God."
"She is WA’s first MP of African descent and the first person from a South Sudanese background to occupy a seat in any Parliament in Australia." God has designated the governing authorities. The presence of Honourable Ayor Makur Chuot in the State Parliament of Western Australia as the first South Sudanese and African is significant. The benevolence and compassion of the Australian populace and their government are evident, making Australia our most suitable home following our displacement from South Sudan due to the war. Today, Professor Richard Vokes and I met with the Hon. Ayor and other ministers. We held a fruitful meeting and then enjoyed a delicious lunch. I express my gratitude to Ayor for her time and the generosity and excellence of the services she provides to the community and Great Australia. On Saturday, Hon. Ayor participated in the Afroenpenuors forum and delivered a speech that was uplifting, smart, and informative. The Hon. Ayor is receptive and anticipates that the multiculturalism and benevolence of individuals will advantage numerous Africans. May the world and Australia receive divine favours. Ayor received the One Young World Politician of the Year Award in 2023 for bringing about positive changes in her community. Keep up the excellent work, Hon. Ayor Makur; you have made our women around the world proud. Many African men have tried but failed, and because you are among the God-chosen few, you are shining.

God conveys messages through a select few and bestows blessings upon humanity and the Earth through these individuals. We falter when we choose to disregard the voices of others. I am deeply grateful for the immense support I consistently receive from family, friends, mentors, and especially my closest companion, my paternal uncle, Dr. Lualdit Acuek Lual. He has played a fatherly role in my life, alongside many cherished friends around the world. I am certain that my deceased parents are expressing gratitude to these generous and caring individuals. May the tree they plant and consecrate provide blessings and prosperity for me, my family, and the entire world.

Ancestral God, the deity of the living, the deceased, and our ancestors—you are benevolent, compassionate, and generous. Provide us with the necessary resources to enhance our lives and spread peace, love, and prosperity across the globe. Bless our relatives, friends, and all sentient beings. Protect authors, humanitarian workers, and benefactors who tirelessly support refugees worldwide. Grant wisdom to world leaders to guide us toward peace and prosperity in 2025 and beyond.

I commend host countries for offering opportunities to those in need; without their assistance, our presence here would not be possible. The divine entity of South Sudan should instill peace and transform the hearts of our leaders. I fear that their anger may regress the nation into turmoil. Yet I trust in your power as a loving and merciful parent to bring about positive change. Our people have endured immense suffering and cannot bear further hardship. Establish tranquilly in Sudan. Families in South Sudan and Sudan are facing severe hardships with many lives lost. Our prayers for peace and abundance invoke your divine presence.

Transform the ambitions of those pursuing power and wealth, for human needs are universal, and no amount of fortune can fully satisfy the desire for more—otherwise, even Bill Gates would have ceased his efforts. Be content with life and what you have, for life is more precious than material possessions. Peace saves lives; war takes them. Therefore, let us choose peace and preach peace. We must find satisfaction in what we possess, for life is invaluable, and the wealthiest person is the one who is alive.

Let us foster peace, love, and compassion for humanity. I hope for a peaceful election in America, a nation of remarkable, kind, and compassionate people whose nurturing hands and vision extend worldwide. South Sudan is a land where Western countries and refugees from Kakuma, displaced in 1992, have settled through the efforts of the United Nations. I seek forgiveness, blessings, and unrequested favours, acknowledging your omnipotence in perceiving both the visible and the invisible, the tangible and the intangible.

Safeguard those who travel by air and land, offering protection to all. Lualplus will continue praying for all of us.

My 92-year-old friend Hansrudi Brawan, for whom I published the book "To the Horizon and Beyond: A Life of Service to the Red Cross" at the age of 91, expressed his gratitude to me today and requested that I convey his greetings to South Sudanese, a nation he cherishes, as he affirmed during our phone conversation today. Please offer prayers for him; he has been in the hospital for a long time and is currently receiving care for his age-related needs. Forty-five years ago, while en route to Malakal, he slept on a truck in Bor town, serving as the chief delegate of the Red Cross.

God operates in a manner that is entirely distinctive, and His intentions are consistently advantageous. The journey to repatriate my father's remains from the town of Nasir began when He gave a dream to my father’s younger brother, Chief Lual Deng. Lual Duom de Deng subsequently informed the family and clan that the late Chief Reech Deng, Mol Mec, appeared in a dream wanting his remains returned home for a traditional, honourable burial.

Upon receiving the news, I sat on my bed at Kitale, a boarding school, and requested that He open the doors of opportunity. He did so immediately. In 2009, I reached out to my maternal uncle, Elijah Malok Aleng, to ask for his assistance in contacting Dr. Riek Machar, who was at the time in Khartoum, to facilitate the return of Chief Reechdit’s remains. Uncle Elijah was exceedingly pleased and proceeded to consult with Dr. Riek, who was equally enthusiastic about providing assistance. I also discussed the matter with Dr. Lual Acuek Lual and was eager to lead the program. In fact, Dr. Lual met with Dr. Riek in March 2013 to discuss the same matter but was unable to fulfill it due to the 2013 crisis. Consequently, the initiative was suspended.

We have never given up. Dr. Lual has been working diligently to ensure that this is accomplished, and I share his perspective. Prof. Richard Vokes, Dr. Ajak Duany, and Douglas H. Johnson were all amenable and eager to provide assistance, making contact within their networks. Janna, an American independent scholar, was unexpectedly approached for assistance due to her reputation as a distinguished scholar and her dedication to honouring the deceased by constructing a beautiful tomb online. She worked on a grave project for Chief Reech Deng Lual Deng Mayen, also known as Mol Mec Fine, from sunset last night until 6 a.m. What a person of generosity and diligence! If I am not mistaken, she is the first scholar to have done this for South Sudanese and Africans.

It is historic, and a divine individual has been sent to assist us in the process of healing and to construct a grand memorial in memory of our fallen heroes. Truly, God's timing is always the best timing. The Lualplus team is resolute and dedicated to realising this aspiration.

Your brief visit today, Prof. Richard Vokes and Kaliisa Derrick Mugenyi, was very inspiring and encouraging. I am confident that the South Sudan forum will be a success this year. I am grateful to the University of Western Australia (UWA) for the opportunity to organise this important event for the second consecutive year. As previously stated, I will meet you next week at UWA to discuss other book launches and talk shows.
