Possibly my favourite hour of the whole term. 💛

Once a term, the Mystery Makers table comes out. There’s no sample to recreate and no instructions telling them what their finished piece should look like. It’s just a challenge, a mountain of materials and an hour to figure it out.

This term’s challenge: make something related to an animal. 🐾

And every single time, something happens about halfway through the session. The room gets busy. The ideas get bigger. Problems get solved. Plans get changed. And they get so absorbed in making that when I call time after an hour, nobody is ready to stop.

Which is probably why Mystery Makers is a favourite with the kiddos too.

10/10 would recommend giving kids a pile of stuff and seeing what happens. 😂

🐍 Ssssssorry about the snake jokes.
Actually, no I’m not.

This week we filled the studio with very long, very colourful, very patterned snakes and apparently that meant I had no choice but to fill this reel with terrible snake jokes too.

A gorgeous lesson concept from the Little Artists’ Room that we had so much fun bringing to life at The Colour Club. 💛

Okay but imagine getting to say “I MADE THAT” every time you turn your bedroom lamp on 😍💡

Our Bedroom Designer Workshop is all about giving kids the chance to dream up, design and make pieces for their very own space.

And yes, this little lamp actually works 💡

We’ll be playing with colour, pattern and plenty of creative freedom to turn a plain white lamp into something completely their own.

No two will look the same. And that’s exactly how we like it.

If you’re wondering what to book these school holidays, I’ll let our Colour Club families do the convincing. 💛

School holidays at The Colour Club are for kids who love to make, experiment, get messy and leave very proud of what they’ve created.

This September/October we’ve packed the studio with some seriously good projects, from Bedroom Designer Camp and Fashion Camp to Monster Faces, Light-Up Galaxy Canvases, Gem Paintings and plenty more.

Some are 90-minute workshops. Some are big drop-off camps. All of them are designed to give kids proper materials, interesting ideas and plenty of freedom to make the project their own.

School holiday bookings are now OPEN. 🎨

Places are limited in each session, so if your little maker has already picked a favourite, I wouldn’t leave this one sitting in the saved pile.

OKAY. LET’S ACTUALLY DO THIS. ✂️🎨

After discovering that apparently quite a lot of us would like three glorious hours with absolutely nothing else to do… Paint, Cut + Play is officially open for bookings.

We’ll paint, cut, arrange, layer, change our minds, move things around, add some more, and spend three whole hours getting completely lost in making.

No art experience required. No pressure to make anything perfect. Just colour, creativity and time to play.

Imagine having three whole hours with absolutely nothing else to do…

Except paint, cut, arrange, play, change your mind, and make something beautiful. ✂️🎨

No rushing. No multitasking. No needing to be “good at art”. Just a table full of colour and an entire afternoon to get completely absorbed in making.

Our new Paint, Cut + Play workshop is inspired by the incredible layered colour and texture of Tiff Manuell’s work. We’ll paint our own papers, cut them into hundreds of little pieces, then slowly layer and arrange them into a beautiful artwork to take home.

And yes, I find the cutting and arranging ridiculously satisfying.

Tie dye was only half the story 🌈

This week our makers took the shirts they dyed last week and gave them their own logo, designed completely around them.

Their favourite things. Their ideas. Their little marks on the world. Then they inked them up and printed them straight onto their shirts.

And my favourite bit? Some were so chuffed with what they’d made, they put them straight on and wore them home. 🥹

There’s something pretty magic about watching a kid look at something and think, “I made that. And I LOVE it.”

That’s the good stuff. ❤️
