This afternoon Miss M had her last afternoon of sewing with us and created these fun, lavender and rice filled bin chickens - she was very happy with her little chickens.
We have a couple of vacancies in our home schooled Friday afternoon sewing sessions - 1pm to 3pm - boys and girls welcome - from 8 years of age.

All seventy squares stitched with a cross but with not enough room in the Shop Shed to lay it out, too windy on the front porch so we had to wait for better conditions.
The following morning was beautifully calm although a little damp from heavy dew so I began to lay out the blocks.
I arranged the squares in a pleasing manner for Miss E, numbered the rows and stacked them all in a happy pile ready to sew up next week.
I smiled at the coordinating pincushion and quilt 😍

DO I MAKE MORE COASTERS?
That is the question!!
I have these 4 1/2” squares of 3mm felt left over from another project and as one corner was already rounded I rounded the other three.
I then set about decorating it with slow stitching - a plaid was perfect for the reverse side.
I then whipped stitched the edges using a coordinating tapestry wool.
So do I make more?
How else could I finish the edges?

This quilt has been along time in the making but it is now finished and it looks so good.
purchased the pattern, linen and a In The Beginning jelly roll and popped it away for a rainy day.
Needing a new project to tackle at Sewing Circle she came upon it.
So her Melon Pie quilt was started, there was lots of cutting, appliquéing and piecing -and when the top was completed we had the pleasure of quilting it for her.
It was on her bed just in time for the colder weather which made us happy.
Such a great make Miss Annie - so proud of you - enjoy xx

One of the first things our young sewers get to make is a felt pincushion by hand - they learn to do running stitch and blanket stitch.
Fast forward a year or two and they begin to look a bit tired from the constant use.
So then they get to create a new pincushion totally on the sewing machine using their favourite scrap fabrics.
Just love their combinations - they always look so good!!
