One Cycle Releasing.
Another Beginning.
There are weeks when astrology feels like background weather.
And then there are weeks like this.
The final week of August 2026 carries us through one of the most concentrated points of this year’s eclipse season, a period of endings, revelations, course corrections and beginnings that may not yet look like beginnings.
We are standing between two eclipse stories.
The Virgo–Pisces eclipse cycle, which began in September 2024 and continues through February 2027, is entering its final stages. The Pisces Lunar Eclipse on 28 August is the sixth of seven eclipses in that sequence.
At the same time, the emerging Leo–Aquarius eclipse cycle is already underway. The Total Solar Eclipse in Leo earlier this month, on 12 August globally/13 August Australian time, was part of a new Leo–Aquarius sequence extending into January 2028. (Cafe Astrology)
So perhaps the question this week is not simply:
“What am I beginning?”
It may be:
“What must I finally be willing to complete so that the next version of my life has somewhere to land?”
This is threshold energy.
And thresholds can feel uncomfortable because for a short period we are neither entirely who we were nor fully who we are becoming.

24 AUGUST — INTEGRATION BEFORE REVELATION
We begin the week beneath a waxing Moon with the Sun newly arrived in Virgo.
The spectacular Leo Solar Eclipse of mid-August has already planted something. Leo asked us to look at identity, courage, heart, visibility, creativity and the right to occupy our own lives fully.
Virgo now asks a very different question:
What are you actually going to do with what you have realised?
Leo provides the vision.
Virgo examines the details.
This is where inspiration begins becoming practice.
Spiritually, the 24th is an integration point. Rather than forcing answers, observe what has already changed internally since the Solar Eclipse.
What suddenly feels less important?
What feels more important?
What are you no longer prepared to pretend not to know?

25 AUGUST — MERCURY MEETS THE NODES
Mercury conjunct the South Node in Leo / opposite the North Node in Aquarius
Exact approximately 7:04 pm AEST
Mercury reaches the final degree of Leo and encounters the lunar nodal axis before leaving Leo.
Astrologically, the Nodes are associated with developmental direction: the South Node with familiar patterns, accumulated experience and what may need releasing, and the North Node with unfamiliar territory pulling us forward.
Mercury rules thought, language, perception, information and communication.
So this can feel like a moment when an old story becomes visible.
A conversation may repeat itself.
A truth may finally be spoken.
Something from the past may resurface.
Or we may suddenly hear ourselves saying the same thing we have been saying for years and realise:
I no longer believe my own old story.
This is one of the strongest “cycle ending” signatures of the week.
The spiritual invitation is to notice the narratives you have outgrown.
Not every belief that protected an earlier version of you belongs in the life you are creating now.

25 AUGUST — MERCURY ENTERS VIRGO
Approximately 9:04 pm AEST
Only hours after crossing the nodal axis, Mercury leaves Leo and enters Virgo, a sign it rules.
The mind becomes sharper.
Details matter.
Facts matter.
Discernment matters.

This is particularly important before a Pisces eclipse.
Pisces feels.
Virgo verifies.
Neither is superior.
We need both.
The spiritual lesson becomes:
Trust what you feel — but remain willing to examine what you believe it means.

26–27 AUGUST — THE YOD: A COSMIC COURSE CORRECTION
Across these days the Sun and then Mercury in Virgo form quincunxes to Pluto in Aquarius and Neptune in Aries, while Pluto and Neptune remain in sextile.
Many astrologers describe this geometry as a Yod, sometimes called the Finger of God.
A Yod is traditionally associated with adjustment, redirection and circumstances that require us to respond differently because the old approach no longer quite fits. (Cafe Astrology)
Pluto asks for transformation.
Neptune dissolves illusion.
Virgo asks for discernment.
There may be a strange feeling around these days of knowing something is shifting without yet being able to explain exactly what the new shape will become.
Do not underestimate that feeling.
Something does not necessarily have to be wrong simply because it no longer fits.
Sometimes misalignment is simply evidence that we have reached the edge of an old chapter.

28 AUGUST — MERCURY CAZIMI IN VIRGO

Before the Lunar Eclipse arrives, something extraordinary happens.
Mercury moves into the heart of the Sun.
This is known astrologically as Mercury Cazimi, or the Superior Conjunction of Mercury and the Sun.
Traditionally, cazimi is associated with illumination, revelation and extraordinary mental clarity.
Something can click.
A missing piece appears.
A conversation suddenly makes sense.
We understand why something happened.
Or we finally recognise what we have known beneath the noise.

28 AUGUST — THE PISCES FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE

Exact Full Moon 2:18 pm AEST
This is the centrepiece of the week.
Astronomically, approximately 96% of the Moon enters Earth’s umbral shadow, making this an exceptionally deep partial lunar eclipse. Where visible, much of the Moon may take on the copper-red colour associated with the term “Blood Moon.”
Traditionally, August’s Full Moon is called the Sturgeon Moon, although that name comes from North American seasonal traditions and is not particularly meaningful to our Southern Hemisphere seasons.
Astrologically, what matters more is this:
The Moon is in Pisces.
The Sun is directly opposite in Virgo.
And therein lies the medicine.
Virgo: order, discernment, routine, responsibility, the body, work, practical service.
Pisces: intuition, surrender, compassion, spirituality, dreams, endings, forgiveness and the unseen.
The eclipse asks us to reconcile them.
Where have we tried to control something that requires surrender?
Where has compassion become self-sacrifice?
Where has service become depletion?
Where has spirituality become avoidance?
Where has logic drowned out intuition?
And equally:
Where have feelings replaced facts?
Where have we mistaken hope for evidence?
Where have we allowed the absence of boundaries to masquerade as unconditional love?
This is why Pisces–Virgo eclipse work can be profound.
Its lesson is neither blind surrender nor absolute control.
It is discerned surrender.

Lunar eclipses are Full Moons intensified.
Symbolically they deal with culmination, revelation, completion and release.
Pisces is also the final sign of the zodiac.
It understands endings.
But Pisces teaches us that an ending is rarely annihilation.
It is dissolution.
Something returns to the ocean so that its energy can eventually take another form.
Therefore this eclipse does not necessarily ask:
“What do I need to destroy?”
It asks:
“What am I finished carrying?”
There is a difference.
This may include an identity.
A relationship dynamic.
A responsibility.
An expectation.
A fantasy.
A resentment.
A version of the future.
Or simply the belief that life had to unfold in one particular way for it to be meaningful.
For spiritual practice around this eclipse, I would favour observation, release, prayer, journalling, rest and allowing over trying to aggressively manifest an outcome.
The sky is already moving pieces.
We do not need to push every door.

Sun square Uranus — approximately 8:19 am Saturday
Only hours after the eclipse, Uranus enters the conversation.
Uranus represents disruption, liberation, awakening, surprise, independence and sudden change.
Mercury square Uranus can correlate astrologically with unexpected information, changed plans, surprising conversations or sudden realisations.
The Sun square Uranus pushes the question deeper:
Can I remain myself when circumstances change unexpectedly?
This is breakthrough energy — but it can also be reactive.
Pause before sending the message.
Pause before making the declaration.
Pause before deciding that one unexpected event explains everything.
Sometimes Uranus delivers liberation.
Sometimes it simply delivers new information.
Allow yourself enough space to discover which one it is.

As the eclipse intensity begins settling, Jupiter trine Saturn strengthens.
The aspect becomes exact on 31 August in American ephemerides, which is approximately 8:17 am on 1 September AEST.
And this is a beautiful way to leave eclipse week.
Jupiter expands.
Saturn structures.
Jupiter says:
Believe in something bigger.
Saturn replies:
Then build it properly.
This is not manifestation through wishful thinking.
It is possibility meeting responsibility.
Vision meeting structure.
Faith meeting discipline.
The spiritual question becomes:
Now that I know what must end, what am I willing to consistently build instead?
