This is what just over 150 dahlia plants looks like in the off season! A lot of work, dirt and water. Now this lot will keep me busy dividing for a while.
800 plants now dug with only 50 left to go!! Yay!! 😅

Annual dahlia tuber sale for Little Flower Patch Farm is coming soon!

We have been flat out digging, dividing and storing our tubers over the last few weeks, with over 600 plants now done and in storage we can finally start to see the light at the end of the tunnel! 😅

We hold our tuber sale in early spring each year once our tubers are officially counted and starting to wake up with clear/swollen eyes.

Located in Southern Tasmania with shipping throughout Australia available (excluding WA & NT)

Who loves waterlily dahlias? We added these 4 beauties to our collection last growing season and they have only increased my fondness of the form. Kelgai Ann, Monolith, Pam Howden and Granite Peachy. Aren't they all beautiful! Seems my husband now has a favourite form of dahlia.

Yesterday we spent another afternoon of digging and washing clumps of dahlia tubers. Thats another 65 plants lifted making a total of 425. I think we are now half way through 😅
Now to get these all divided and packed away over the next couple of days then off to dig some more!

We are deep in the midst of the big dig and divide. We are digging, washing and dividing as we go. It's a big job! With a few hundred done we aren't quite halfway through but we are getting there. Thankfully although all the dividing currently is done by myself I do have my husband and children pitching in where and when they can which is a big help.

All our own grown seedlings are now tucked away ready for spring. Looking through their reference pictures has me excited for the upcoming season!
Which one is your favourite? Fingers crossed most of these grow well for us again in their second season where they will be assessed more carefully.

**Farm Update**

We have been quiet on socials lately but we have been busy behind the scenes working away on a number of winter jobs, the biggest being the dahlia dig + divide.
We decided to try a new set up for storage this year and it was exciting to see it all set up and ready to go. I may be slightly nervous that we will run out of space 😅
We are slowly chipping away at the big job starting with all our newly added varieties grown over the last season. With almost 100 plants now lifted, washed, divided and tucked away in their winter storage.

We are also working on updating the website, adding new varieties and updating photos ready for our dahlia tuber sale at the end of winter/early spring once our tubers have clear signs of waking up.

What a difference!
Yesterday we got stuck in and cleared the sunflower bed and pathway ready to plant out our ranunculus seedlings. Feels good to get something ticked off the never ending list of jobs 😅

Our roadside flower stand is now CLOSED for the season. We will be open again in spring! ☺️

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported our small family business throughout the season by purchasing our bouquets, liking and following us. It means so much to have such a great support from our local community. Our flower stand will be open again in spring but for now feel free to follow along with us as we dive into our end of autumn jobs collecting seed, planting and preparing for the big dahlia dig and divide before our tuber sale at the end of winter/early spring.
