Today’s recommendation is the brand new Golden Ration Rosin by Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin. Here’s what our cello specialist, Michael, has to say.
“I’ve been using Leatherwood rosins (multiple varieties) for over a decade and I know the excellence of these products, but the new Golden Ratio really impressed me. I chose a first-level intermediate bow that hadn’t been used at all, rosined it up and was genuinely surprised at the result! It provides a soft-but-firm chocolatey smooth character. Bow changes are incredibly easy and smooth, there is a lovely range of expression and dynamic variance is enhanced more than any other rosin I’ve ever tried. It gave me all the power and expression I wanted, but also the best pianissimo my dodgy old bow hand has been able to perform in many years. You might expect a rich, smooth rosin to be a little stodgy in lyrical passages, but that isn’t the case with Golden Ratio. It gave me everything I wanted.
