Sometimes a project comes along that I just can’t say no to.

I was recently asked to be involved in this project framing a number of indigenous artefacts found in Donvale, Victoria.

It was an honour to be able to work with these artefact and provide a display that is not only complementary but also protective of their value.

The educational value of placing these items on approved display will hopefully inform those using the land of its historical importance.

Numerous mounting options were investigated ensuring the artefacts were secure, while considering their value to the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung and safeguarding their integrity.

I personally think they look great! 😀

Protecting a canvas?

Sometimes I am approached by a client who has spent a considerable amount on a canvas and would like to protect it.

This is one such canvas.

Purchased from a charity auction, this original Bromley piece has a relatively fragile surface of silver leaf. It was decided that the investment would be better protected under glass.

Framed in a box frame, with colours to complement the design, this artwork is now safe from pollutants and damage for years to come.

Lovely little map of Victoria.

Hinge mounted artwork with double raised conservation mattboard. The double raised mattboard allows for additional depth to draw you into the piece; the affect of the shadow provides that extra definition in the border without using further colour.

I was approached a few months ago about framing a jigsaw.

‘Sure’, I said. ‘I frame them all the time.’

Well, this was a first. Thankfully I had a very patient client as we battled with COVID restrictions, but the job was on the wall in time for Christmas.

Hand stitched to a deep red fabric, then carefully stretched before adding a raised black conservation mattboard.

Finished with a 20mm black frame and UltraVue anti-reflective glass.
