Warama Culture recently joined Darumbal People Aboriginal Corporation (DPAC) out at Tilpal Training Camp in Shoalwater Bay, delivering a cultural awareness session and sharing culture with Defence personnel.

It was a deadly opportunity to take culture into a different environment — sharing dance, stories, knowledge and connection to Country while creating a space for genuine cultural learning and engagement.

Warama Culture is also proud to be a preferred supplier for DPAC for cultural activities, supporting the delivery of cultural experiences, workshops and engagement opportunities across Darumbal Country.

A big thank you to DPAC for having us involved and to everyone at Tilpal who took the time to listen, learn and get involved.

🎃 VOLUNTEERS & STORYTELLERS WANTED! 👻

Warama Culture is bringing something new to Rockhampton with our first-ever Halloween-inspired event — GURRU Stories After Dark! 🌙🔥

We’re looking for storytellers who want to share Aboriginal scary stories, folklore and yarns, as well as volunteers to help with set-up, pack-up.

The night will bring together culture, scary stories, entertainment and our Neon Corroboree after dark. 👻✨

Looking for something to do this school holidays?

Come down to Yeppoon Main Beach next Friday, 25th of September and watch us dance, do a few activites/ demonstrations and if you stay til the afternoon we will be doing a neon performance!!

We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to share, celebrate and keep our culture strong here in Rockhampton — so this October, Warama Culture is trying something a little different.

Introducing GURRU: Stories After Dark 🌙

A Halloween-inspired cultural night for our community, bringing together scary stories, superstition, culture and corroboree after dark.

We’ll be sharing some of the stories and things we were warned about growing up — the things you don’t whistle at, the places you don’t go at night, and the stories that make you think twice when you hear something moving in the bush. 👀

Throughout the night there’ll be scary storytelling, cultural yarns, plenty of dancing, prizes and giveaways, before we light up Dreamtime Cultural Centre with our Neon Corroboree.

⏰ 5:30pm – 7:30pm
📍 Dreamtime Cultural Centre, Rockhampton

Bring a torch, chair, water, picnic blanket, mozzie spray and some snacks and settle in for an evening of culture after dark.

This event is about finding new ways to get our mob excited about culture, creating experiences for our young people and bringing community together.

We’re proud to have received Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) funding to help bring GURRU: Stories After Dark to life.

Big shout to our Warama Crew for turning up and practicing culture to ensure our legacy lives on ❤️❤️

Here are a couple of my favourite photos from our performance at the NAIDOC Expo this year 💪🏾🔥

If anybody would like to join our dance troupe, please send a message over. It's very important to our young ones that they atleast get exposed to waddama that they can feel. Even if they just come to a practice to watch, sit and listen. It'll make all the difference 💯

We perform throughout the year and practice every fortnight to makesure you feel the spirit when we corroboree. We don't just dance, we corroboree 👣👣

Just a heads up, we have a corroboree night coming up on October 11th 🫡

Was a nice chill day down the beach! Can't wait to go back again!! ❤️
