THIS IS NOT OK.
Unfortunately, today we’re sharing something we should never have to share.
This footage shows the person in the pink jumper taking a handbag from our Allenstown News store and leaving without paying for it.
We are a local business. We employ local people, support our community and work incredibly hard to keep a great range of products on our shelves. Having someone simply decide they’re entitled to walk in and take something that doesn’t belong to them is both infuriating and incredibly disappointing.
Retail theft is not victimless. It hurts small businesses, our staff and, ultimately, our customers.
The incident and relevant CCTV footage are being provided to police.
If the person involved sees this post, we strongly encourage you to do the right thing and return the handbag or come into the store and pay for it. Or if anyone knows this person, we would greatly appreciate their name to add to the police report.
To everyone who continues to support Allenstown News, treats our team with respect and chooses to shop local — thank you. We genuinely appreciate you.
And to those who think stealing from a local business is acceptable: it isn’t.
