Known for its striking deep red to burgundy colouration and flowing, flame-like fronds, Dragon’s Breath is one of the most attractive ornamental macroalgae available. Under suitable lighting, the growing tips can develop brilliant orange or fiery red highlights, giving the algae its distinctive “dragon’s breath” appearance.
Perfect for reef tanks, display refugiums and macroalgae aquariums, Dragon’s Breath is not only decorative — as it grows, it also absorbs nutrients such as nitrate and phosphate from the water.
Unlike many nuisance algae, Dragon’s Breath grows as an attractive bushy clump and can become a beautiful natural feature amongst rockwork and corals.
