🚧 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀! Townsville City Council is fast‑tracking TWO community projects in the Mid‑Year Review.

🏝️ 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲
The old Henry Lawson bridge is being replaced this year — boosting safety and cutting ongoing inspection costs.

Nick Dametto Mayor of Townsville says:
“The community has been passionate about this upgrade, and I’m pleased we can secure this important link for decades to come.”

🚤 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗽
Council is also kicking off design work for a new boat ramp to support future recreation at the dam.

By shifting some projects into later years, Council is focusing on the upgrades locals have been calling for right now.

Not long now till Barra season opens in Qld. I can’t wait to see how this season rolls out. The Barra fishing in the Hinchinbrook Chanel has seen noticeable improvement in both numbers of fish and average size over the past few years. I think this has to be influenced by the regional removal of gill nets to the north and south of the Chanel. Sight fishing encounters with 1m Barra seem to be regular on most charters these days and this makes me very excited for 2026.

I love a good lunchtime raft up. Taking a moment to reflect on an amazing morning, sharing the story’s of the s**t that went down. Story’s of success and story’s of what didn’t work and the learnings that come from that. Re-focus for the arvo. Hydrate and reset. So much more than just time for food.

Great to have Greg visit from USA. Even better to see the array of fish he slayed in the few days he was here. Like this big Anak he nailed on day one!! Awesome guiding by hanging in there in some unfavourable conditions. Great fishing gents. Hats off to you both. The getting the bite. 📸
