Pretty flowers are only half the job 🌸🔨
At a recent wedding, one of the venue staff commented on how impressed they were with the way I had constructed the base of the arbour — and it made me realise how much work goes into floral installations that clients never actually see.

We’ve all seen those wedding TikToks… the wind picks up and suddenly there’s a florist, coordinator or venue staff member hiding behind an arrangement physically holding the arbour down so it doesn't topple over. 😅
As a florist, that's genuinely one of my worst fears.
And it's exactly why I probably go a little overboard with my mechanics.

For this installation, I'd built a solid timber base specifically to support the arbour. My original plan also included securing it into the ground with tent pegs. When I arrived at the venue, I discovered the surface meant there was nowhere suitable to use them.
But I'd planned for that too.

I had brought small concrete weights that could be cable-tied discreetly to the back of the structure if extra weight was needed.

Turns out, the timber base I'd built was so sturdy and stable that I didn't even need them. 🙌
That's the difference between simply making something look beautiful and thinking about how it's actually going to stand safely for an entire wedding ceremony.

Fishing line & pool noodles absolutely have their place in floristry — but they shouldn't be the thing standing between a large floral structure and someone's wedding guests. 😂

I build wooden bases. I reinforce them. I bring weights. I bring alternative securing options. And I think about what I'm going to do before I arrive if Plan A isn't possible.
Because so much of professional floristry is the stuff you'll never see in the photos.
The timber. The screws. The reinforcement. The backup plan.
Then we hide it all behind flowers and make it look effortless. 🌿🤍
Pretty matters. But pretty, secure AND structurally sound? That's the standard.

We think this role would be perfect for someone who is retired or semi-retired and would love a little extra money each week while getting out and about.
The role involves delivering flowers around Singleton and surrounding areas Monday to Friday for a few hours across the week, plus one trip to the Central Coast each week to collect flowers.
🚗 Work vehicle provided
Monday to Friday a few hours each day as needed.(can role split with a second golden oldie)

Singleton Florist is looking for a motivated and reliable Junior Floristry Trainee to join our team from June.

This is a fantastic opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Floristry while gaining hands-on experience in a busy retail florist.

To be successful you must:
🌸 Be reliable, punctual and willing to learn
🌸 Be committed to completing a 2-year traineeship
🌸 Be available monday to friday and to work 2 Saturdays per month once they are comfortable.

Must have p plates.

🌸 Enjoy working as part of a team
🌸 Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic

You will learn:
💐 Flower care and preparation
💐 Bouquet and arrangement design
💐 Customer service and sales

We also just wanted to take a moment to say a massive THANK YOU to our incredible team after one of the biggest Mother’s Days we’ve had yet ❤️

Over the course of the week, 400 bouquets went out the door 🤯 and there is absolutely no way Emma and myself could ever keep up without the amazing people behind the scenes.
A HUGE shoutout to Madeline — honestly our MVP every single peak season 👏 (saved my back, literally)

She is the reason we rarely need ordering cut-offs and can continue to accommodate so many walk-ins right up until the last minute.

The amount of work she puts in behind the scenes is unreal and we honestly couldn’t do it without her.
