🧻 Want to know why we chose Bamboo?

♻️ Plastic Free July♻️ starts with the choices we make at home. Since the 1950s, the world has produced an estimated 9.2 billion tonnes of plastic. Around 7 billion tonnes has become waste, and less than 10% has been successfully recycled.

At Oobamboo our household essentials are:

💚 Packed with no plastic packaging
💚 100% bleach-free and chlorine-free bamboo
💚 Compostable and biodegradable
💚 Australian owned
💚 A practical swap for everyday household product

Every small change adds up.

♻️ One of the questions we get asked a lot is why we chose bamboo instead of recycled paper.

Recycling is important, but making soft finished paper products can still involve chemical processing.

For us, bamboo made more sense.

It grows incredibly fast, uses very little water, and can be made without chlorine bleaching, pesticides or harsh added chemicals. It does cost more to make products naturally this way, but we have a saying that grounds everything we do:

"There's no such thing as a free lunch. All actions and products have an underlying cost, whether paid directly, deferred to your health or absorbed by the environment"

This is why we made this choice.

“How often do you grab a 6 pack of toilet paper wrapped in plastic? That’s a lot of plastic wrapping that gets used once and thrown away.”

When we put our 48 roll subscription together, we wanted to change that. Everything arrives in one box, with no plastic packaging, and even the tape is paper!

📦 8% saving on every delivery
📦 Change delivery, skip or cancel anytime
📦 No plastic packaging
📦 A set-and-forget way to stay stocked

Every little bit counts.

💭 Ever wondered why we sometimes sell out or why our products aren’t cheaper than supermarket brands?

Most products are made fast using bleaching and harsh chemicals to cut time and cost. We chose a slower process and a more sustainable option. This means more time, more care and absolutly no shortcuts!

This is why it costs more to make, and with rising global transport and production costs, that pressure continues. But changing the process would mean changing the product.

That’s not a trade-off we’re willing to make. 🫶

Do you have sensitive skin? Sanitary pads, cotton or plastic-based, can cause rashes due to synthetic materials, chemicals, or the accumulation of lint, especially if they are low-quality or fragranced.

Oobamboo's pads are super gentle on the skin free with no dyes, fragrances or bleach. Bamboo fibers are naturally round and smooth, creating a silky texture that minimises friction-induced micro-tears on sensitive skin.

Bamboo also contains a natural agent which has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth and reduce the risk of infections (like yeast infections) that cause irritation.

Have you tried Oobamboo pads yet?

🫶 When you have kids, you start noticing the small things. 🫶 What touches their skin. What comes into your home. What you use every single day without thinking twice.

Tissues were one of those things for us. We learned that many are bleached with chlorine. That wood fibres are short and brittle, so they break apart and leave lint behind.

For sensitive skin, that can mean irritation and micro-abrasions and that didn’t sit right. So we made something we actually wanted in our own house 💚
