PRICE INCREASE

Sorry to say we finally have to put our prices up. Our last increase was 2024. With the price of fuel, buckets and especially freight we have had to increase our prices slightly.

Thank you for continuing to support our small business.

Thanks David and Sue

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻.

That’s not exactly true.

Honey bees actually cannot properly digest raw pollen on its own.

Before it becomes usable food… the colony has to transform it.

𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗲
𝗕𝗲𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱

Bee bread is fermented pollen.

It’s one of the most important protein sources in the entire hive and without it, colonies cannot properly raise brood.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁:
• Worker bees collect flower pollen and pack it into pollen baskets on their hind legs
• Back at the hive, the pollen is mixed with nectar, honey, and digestive enzymes from the bees
• The mixture is tightly packed into comb cells
• Beneficial bacteria and yeast begin a lactic acid fermentation process
• Over time, the tough outer shell of the pollen breaks down, making nutrients available to the colony

This is important because raw pollen has an extremely tough outer shell called the exine.

Adult bees cannot easily digest it in raw form.

The fermentation process acts almost like an outside digestive system for the colony.

It unlocks:
• Proteins
• Amino acids
• Vitamins
• Fats
• Nutrients needed for brood production

The result is bee bread.

Stable. Preserved. Digestible. Nutrient dense.

Very similar in concept to fermented foods humans make like sauerkraut or silage.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘁?
Mostly developing larvae and nurse bees.
• Days 1 to 3, larvae are fed royal jelly
• After that, nurse bees begin feeding developing brood with food made largely from bee bread

Nurse bees between roughly 6 to 12 days old consume massive amounts of it.

Why?

Because they use those proteins and nutrients to produce brood food and royal jelly for the next generation of bees.

Older forager bees rely more heavily on nectar and honey for quick energy, but may still consume small amounts during stressful or high-demand periods.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
Colonies explode in population during spring because of protein availability.

No protein… No brood expansion.
No brood expansion… No large workforce for nectar flows.

Honey gets most of the attention. But protein is what builds bees.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻
The hive understands something many people forget.

Growth requires more than energy.

It requires nutrition.

Honey fuels the work. Bee bread builds the future.

We now have ginger honey and creamed ginger honey. Great for the coming colder months.

Combining ginger and honey creates a potent natural remedy that aids digestion, eases nausea, and boosts the immune system with strong antioxidants. This combination is highly effective at soothing sore throats, reducing coughs, lowering inflammation, and promoting respiratory health. The mix can also aid in circulation and offer antibacterial benefits.Key Health BenefitsDigestive Aid and Nausea Relief: Ginger enhances digestion by promoting enzymes, while honey soothes the stomach. This combination is highly effective against indigestion, bloating, nausea, and morning sickness.

Immune System Boost: Both ingredients possess antioxidants that defend against free radicals. They offer antimicrobial properties that aid in fighting off infections and supporting overall immune wellness.

Cough and Cold Remedy: The mixture acts as a natural cough suppressant and helps reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract. It can thin mucus and soothe a sore throat, providing relief from cold symptoms.Anti-inflammatory and Pain Relief: Ginger and honey have natural anti-inflammatory compounds that may help reduce muscle soreness and joint pain.

Improved Heart
Health and Circulation: Ginger aids in improving circulation and lowering cholesterol, while honey contributes to lower blood pressure. Together, they promote better blood flow, potentially leading to better energy levels and healthier cardiovascular function.Weight Management
