Did you know we offer free ring resizing with ring purchases? đź’Ž

It means the only thing standing between you and the right vintage ring is finding the one you love - not whether it fits đź’Ť

Like this emerald and diamond cluster. A 0.75ct oval emerald, framed by 0.61ct of diamonds that lift the colour without overpowering it. Currently a size O½, and easily yours in the size you need 💚

Add a touch of history to your home ⛏️💡

Miner’s carbide lamps were once essential tools for underground workers, providing a bright, reliable light through a simple reaction between water and calcium carbide.

Built to endure the harsh conditions of early twentieth-century mining, these rugged lamps are now prized as distinctive display pieces and fascinating reminders of our industrial heritage. A characterful collectible with a story to tell.

Now on sale for $130 via https://shopinthebush.com.au/products/miners-carbide-lamp-c1920?variant=44400672538666

We all know Sophie doesn’t officially work in the business these days - she claims she’s “advisory only.” But truth be told, she grew up in it ✨

Her parents, Allan and Margaret, ran the shop for 30 years before I purchased it from them 10 years ago, back when it was far from all fine antiques and social media posts. Interest rates were sky-high, and they were also running three other businesses at the same time. Very busy, tough years… but full of heart.

Through it all, the shop was always full of life, and jewellery was simply part of everyday family rhythm.

As a child, Sophie and her sister Jo would be waiting the moment their parents returned from buying trips. There was no hesitation. Parcels were opened immediately, and the girls would sit on the floor for hours, completely absorbed in antique rings, brooches, and anything beautiful they could get their hands on. It was pure excitement and genuine fascination đź‘€

Fast forward to today, and not much has changed. New arrivals still don’t wait long. Boxes are opened straight away, pieces are studied closely, and appreciation is expressed in the same unmistakable way - quiet focus, and plenty of enthusiastic “oohs” and “aahs.”

I usually sit back and watch her enthusiasm with a smile. It is rather wonderful to see that same inner child still light up over a beautiful ring. Every now and then I do have to gently remind her that I exist and might like a small share of attention too. I can only compete with antique jewellery for so long - it helps my cause when the occasional piece turns into a gift (see the earrings for reference! đź’Ť)

And thankfully, a love of beautiful antique jewellery (and a bit of romance) seems to run in the family.

Remued 24-6 vase, 15 cm high, produced by the Australian studio Remued, known for its mid-20th century pottery and distinctive glazes.

In very good condition, this piece reflects the studio’s clean, functional form and understated decorative finish, typical of Australian studio ceramics from the period.
