This upcycle has been hurting my head for a few years now. A decade or more ago, I 'embellished' a fitted denim jacket with some Catholic guilt - a poorly-hand drawn image of the Virgin Mary on the back panel and words from the Hail Mary prayer down one sleeve and a front lapel.
I have always loved religious icons - bleeding hearts, stigmata saints and sinners, but as I get older I have developed the sensibility to know that overtly flaunting this imagery is no longer something I'm comfortable with - especially if it's poorly executed.
So, this jacket was a challenging fixer-upper cover-ups, a dye job and extensions were called for - and I'm super happy with where it's at now. A floor-length one of a kind scrubby, grungy jacket with a serious nod, played as tongue in cheek, to my own recent spiritual shift.🧘‍♀️
Not quite finished but I'll post the end result when it's done. :)

Happy days!! I thought I had thrown this out but just discovered it in the bottom of a sewing projects tub. It's like reuniting with an old friend. Some silly part of me feels complete again.🙄🤣 It's a skirt I made from about 15 different pairs of jeans the family was throwing out a few years ago. It's about 6 sizes too big for me these days but it's going to have a revamp. 🌟🤸🤩

My first attempt at this style of necklace, these fruits and veges were a birthday gift for the lovely Jules who has joined me on the road to plant-based eating. It’s a bit clunky, but refining the technique is a work in process. 💚
