We’re seeing this more and more lately.

People order personalised products from a certain overseas website starting with T because the price looks cheap, only for them to arrive weeks later poorly made, damaged, or nothing like expected.

We get it — money is tight.

But by the time you pay for the item, shipping, wait weeks for it to arrive, then have to buy it again locally anyway… was it actually cheaper?

And this isn’t a “buy from us” post.

You don’t even have to order from Coastal Keepsakes. Support ANY local small business.

A local engraver, sign maker or maker is far more likely to care about the quality, stand behind their work, and actually be there if something goes wrong.

A little reminder about visiting Coastal Keepsakes 🤍

We’re a small husband-and-wife business that runs from our home studio in Buderim — we’re not a retail shopfront with set opening hours.

While we love meeting our customers, visits to our workshop are by confirmed appointment only. We’re often busy making orders, out collecting supplies, doing the day-job thing, or simply not home, so please get in touch with us before making the trip.

We also don’t offer walk-in or while-you-wait engraving. If you have something you’d like personalised, send us a message first and we’ll let you know what we can do and organise a suitable time for drop-off.

One of today’s jobs — and definitely one that made an impact.

This 90cm × 90cm custom layered acrylic sign was made for Diamond Women, a Sydney not-for-profit supporting women through unexpected pregnancy with counselling, mentoring and practical support.

Frosted clear acrylic, layered peach and white details, and silver standoffs to finish it off.

Loved seeing this one come together from individual pieces to the finished sign.

Just a few of the orders over the last couple of days. It’s so varied and a great way to never get bored 😜 add this to the engraved glassware, custom made and engraved serving boards, cake toppers, engraved yetis, and large custom business signs… it’s been a very very busy week!

Some pieces mean more than the material they’re made from.

This 30cm memorial plaque started as a solid sheet of raw brass.

From there, it was CNC milled, hand polished, and laser engraved to create something that will stand the test of time - just like the memories it represents.

No fancy staging. No filters. Just the finished piece, exactly as it left our workshop.

Creating memorials is one of the greatest privileges of what we do. They aren’t just plaques; they’re a way to honour a life, celebrate unconditional love, and keep a cherished companion close.
