Six years of The Dandy Lion 🦁

Six years ago, The Dandy Lion Studio found its home.

It looked very different then.

The space has changed. A lot.
The furniture has moved, the rooms have evolved, the things we make and do here have grown — and somewhere along the way, The Dandy Lion Studio became something much bigger than the space it started in.

Six years of classes.
Workshops. Exhibitions. Kids making glorious messes. Adults rediscovering creativity. New ideas, new teachers, new people walking through the door.

Six years of building a creative life in a town where, occasionally, people still ask the very reasonable question:

“But… can you actually make a living from art?”

Apparently, we’re still finding out. 😉

And maybe that’s one of the things I’m proudest of.

Not just having a creative business — but building a life around creativity, and continuing to believe there is value in making, teaching, sharing and creating a place for other people to do the same.

Six years in.

Happy birthday, Dandy Lion. 🧡

Holiday Fun is about getting stuck in, trying new things and making something that didn’t exist when you walked in.

A few hours of creativity, colour and “look what I made!” — which is a pretty good way to spend a school holiday.

✨ YOU’RE OFFICIALLY INVITED ✨

After months of planning, creating, hanging and a whole lot of heart, COLLIDE 2026 is ready!

Join us as we celebrate the opening of this year’s community exhibition.

We’ll begin with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country, before moving into the Town Hall auditorium for the official opening, featuring performances, a short film and a warm welcome.

Then it’s time to explore.

Discover more than 200 artworks created by local creatives of all ages and experience levels. Some have taken inspiration from this year’s theme, Imagine Tomorrow, while others tell stories entirely their own.

Don’t forget to vote in our People’s Choice Awards and check out the exciting program of workshops and events running throughout the exhibition.

Tomorrow, it begins.

Yesterday we carefully moved every artwork to the Swan Hill Town Hall. Tomorrow, we start transforming the space into COLLIDE.

Months of planning have led to this week, and I can’t wait to see it all come together.

Please note: The Dandy Lion Studio will be closed on Tuesday while we’re installing and opening the exhibition.

The first day of spring felt like the perfect excuse to freshen up the garden. 🌸

Well… that happened 😅

September school holidays, Term 4 and COLLIDE have all decided to arrive at once… which also means Christmas is somehow just around the corner 😳

Shelley has been busy pulling together another Holiday Fun program (while I mostly contributed coffee, opinions and the occasional “yes, I love that!” 😄).

If you’re starting to think about the school holidays, head over to the website and have a browse. You’ll find something your little maker will love.
