Last Sunday I brought a table of Twisty Kids reusable wax sticks to Sustainable Futures Day at Wahroonga Park, as part of the Better Business Partnership. I set a few sticks out, invited children to try them… and they didn't want to leave. A park full of solar cars and fire trucks, and the kids stayed and created for hours. Every child left with a set. By the end of the day, we were completely sold out.

Turn their favourite book into an activity.
You've read it a hundred times. They still want it again. So put it to work.

Build the characters in 3D — foil ball wrapped in wax sticks, or shape them flat by following the outlines. Spell out the title with letters they already recognise because they've seen it every night for a year. Then let them invent what happens next and build that too.

It's reading, letter recognition and fine motor work in the same twenty minutes — and it doesn't feel like any of those things to them.

No glue, no printing, no setup. Just the book you already own and something to shape.

The mess-free way to build fine motor skills.

Here's the whole method: peel the wax sticks off the sheet, follow the lines on an activity card or printed picture, then bend, twist and wrap them into shape. Cut them shorter if little hands need it. Decorate, and you're done.

It looks like craft. It's actually hand-strength training. Every peel, pinch and bend works the exact muscles a pencil needs — which is why occupational therapists use materials like this for pre-writing work.

No glue. No paint. No cleanup. Just peel them off when you're finished.
Perfect for kindy preparation, preschool learning and fine motor development at home in Australia.
