Changes to Bidding

Recently we enhanced our bidding platform to allow you to increase the visibility and positioning of your products. Bidding up in a category now influences both the sponsored listing positions at the top of the page and the general search results page, where items will be displayed in a combination of relevance and bid.

The Importance of UPC's

Australia has one of the highest smart phone penetrations in the world and with the popularity of bar code scanning applications such as RedLaser on the rise, it's important that you supply a rich data feed that includes UPC's.

Including UPC's in your data feed not only ensures that you reach purchase ready consumers with your best products, it also helps us match your deals so that you can be fairly compared with your competitors.

So what is a UPC?

The Universal Product Code (UPC) is a barcode symbology (i.e., a specific type of barcode), that is widely used in Australia, New Zealand, North America and the UK, for tracking trade items in stores.

Its most common form, the UPC-A, consists of 12 numerical digits, which are uniquely assigned to each trade item. Along with the related EAN barcode, the UPC is the only barcode allowed for scanning trade items at the point of sale, per GS1 standards.[1] UPC data structures are a component of GTINs (Global Trade Item Numbers). All of these data structures follow the global GS1 standards.

How do I format UPC data in my feed?

Formatting UPC data in your feed is easy, just include this as an additional field of data with the column or field header of UPC. Please ensure that you re-submit your data feed in the Merchant Account Centre (MAC) any time you add additional fields of data to your feed.

If you would like us to check your feed format & provide you with recommendations to improve your data quality, please email: [email protected]
