Singapore turns 61 this week, and what better way to celebrate than with some of the flavours we grew up with. 🇸🇬❤️
This Sunday, 9 August, we’re bringing back a menu filled with some of Singapore’s most-loved sweet and savoury kuihs.
Our sweet selection includes Pandan Chiffon Cake and Kuih Lapis, a classic my mum made for almost every birthday party when we were growing up in Singapore. And then there’s Kuih Putugal, our personal favourite. This Eurasian kuih was inspired by one from a little kuih shop in Singapore that we still remember fondly, making it especially nostalgic for us.
On the savoury side, we’re bringing back the hawker centre favourites we all know and love. Chwee Kuih, soft steamed rice cakes topped with sweet and savoury chye poh (preserved radish), and Teochew Png Kuih, which we don’t make very often but always reminds us of home. Our Png Kuih is filled with glutinous rice, pork, mushrooms, dried shrimp and peanuts.
Pre-orders are now live at kuihbyrumah.com.
