Dialogues between Urban Space and Archives

—-
How can collections and archives reshape the histories that cities tell about themselves? Counter-Collections: Dialogues Across Urban Space and Archives brings together artists, curators, architects, and researchers to explore how overlooked community-based archives and collections can move beyond institutional frameworks, becoming active civic agents through artistic and spatial interventions within medium-sized cities.
Emerging from Counter-Kiosk, an artistic research project developed in Braga, Portugal, as part of the Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture—where five artists were invited to transform five abandoned kiosks into public exhibition platforms across the city—this volume uses this situated case to open broader questions about how cities collect, display, and contest their histories. Through conversations between artists involved in the project and contributors from other geographies, the book weaves together perspectives from architecture, ecology, trans studies, Roma feminism, and postcolonial critique.
Structured across three actions—“Collecting”, “Dialoguing”, and “Countering”—this publication unfolds through dialogues, visual essays, and critical reflections addressing representation, accountability, and the politics of working with community-based archives. In a time of ecological and social urgency, this book invites readers to reconsider how urban infrastructures and collective memory can be rearranged through attention, confrontation, dialogue, and imagination.

A Chair and You
Thierry Barbier-Mueller’s Collection Staged by Robert Wilson
Zoé Barbier-Mueller (ed.)

—-
Conceived as an opera in four acts, the exhibition documented in this book brings to life the chair collection of Swiss entrepreneur Thierry Barbier-Mueller (1960–2023). Through the scenography of the renowned American director Robert Wilson (1941–2025), a succession of evocative atmospheres articulates the sculptural, singular presence of each piece. “A Chair and You” recounts the mise-en-scène of the exhibition. Image sequences convey its dramaturgy while original texts shed light on the exhibition’s genesis, the close relationship between collector and director and the creative dialogue that shaped their project.

Entreprecariat - Silvio Lorusso
(2026 Hustler Edition)

—-
Entrepreneur or precarious worker? These are the terms of a cognitive dissonance that turns everyone’s life into a shaky project in perennial start-up phase. Silvio Lorusso guides us through the entreprecariat, a world where change is natural and healthy, whatever it may bring. A world populated by motivational posters, productivity tools, mobile offices and self-help techniques. A world in which a mix of entrepreneurial ideology and widespread precarity is what regulates professional social media, online marketplaces for self-employment and crowdfunding platforms for personal needs. The result? A life in permanent beta, with sometimes tragic implications.
This new edition, published seven years after the first and expanded with a new full chapter, is a needed update for a time when precarity has become ubiquitous and entrepreneurialism has gone berserk.

During Sydney Contemporary, ‘The Object Show’ at The EVE Hotel The EVE Hotel and Arts-Matter | A-M Journal transformed six guest rooms  into immersive worlds that explored the blurred boundaries between art and design. The exhibition was curated around the themes of ‘Play’, ‘Botany’, ‘Edibles’, ‘Collectables’, ‘Interior Design’ and ‘Light Objects’. Each room offered a unique perspective on contemporary object design on how we live with and value the objects around us.
Alongside brilliant creatives such as UnitePlayPerform - A living intelligence studio,Benjamin Avery, Valentine Fodor, , with Tom Anson Mesker we had the opportunity to share what inspires us and brought together sculptural works by artists, designers that move between art, design and function. The “Collectables”room explores how objects we live with shape who we are, celebrating interiors as personal spaces where beauty, materiality, function and memory coexist and collecting becomes part of daily life. It was such a pleasure to share the work of the the following artists & designers:

New New Typography

—-
New New Typography is not an encyclopedia. Not a manual. New New Typography is messy, uncertain and unstable. It is ambiguous and open-ended.

One hundred years after the proclamation of the so-called “New Typography” in Central Europe, the somewhat ironic prospect of a “new” New Typography emerges—less as an update, more as a question that challenges universal rules. In consequence, this book seeks to unsettle established paradigms by opening typography to an expanded, more inclusive vocabulary. “New New” means not innovation and progress, but rather a reorientation, a new relational standpoint between past and present, to bring forward practices that have been neglected, marginalized, or excluded.

With 243 figures and six theoretical proposals, the book is an overview of the impossibility of an overview. It invites readers to engage in diverse renegotiations and re-visions of typography, intertwining texts and quotes with historical and contemporary documents, diagrams, and images. It embarks on speculative adventures that are open to the unforeseen and may not lead anywhere.

The New Era Agenda 02

—-
This special edition of ‚The New Era Magazine‘, takes a more experimental approach in both format and tone while remaining grounded in the people, homes, work, and ideas shaping contemporary creative culture. In this issue, ‚The New Era Agenda 02‘ highlights a new wave of Swedish creative talent, from tailoring brand Saman Amel, which opeed its first atelier outside Stockholm, to Michelin-starred chefs Adam & Albin, who have launched their most ambitious restaurant to date. Both spaces are designed by Stockholm-based studio Halleroed. The issue also visits homes and ateliers of designers and craftspeople such as potter Stefan Andersson, as well as Paris-based interior architects including Sophie Dries, reflecting on the value of craft today. The Marches - Terry A. Ratzlaff
Fragments of Time from Arp Clock & Wood Shop

—-
The Marches is a photographic project by Terry A. Ratzlaff, made in collaboration with horologist Greg Arp at Arp Clock & Wood Shop in Bennet, Nebraska. The project explores how people try to construct, measure, and control time, one of the most artificial systems humans have created. The clock shop is both a working repair space and a maze-like archive filled with memory, history, and material traces of time passing.
