Meet one of our 2026 authors, Karrwii Fair-Townsend 📝
Proud Gamilarray and Wailwan man

Karrwii is the author behind pages 1–3 of our community storybook. His story, Mentoring Elijah, is inspired by his journey of learning as a young adult and coming to understand who he is.

For Karrwii, NAIDOC Week is an especially important time to connect with culture and share knowledge, helping to educate and bring understanding to non-Indigenous communities.

⭐His message to aspiring Indigenous writers is simple but powerful ⭐
“Your voice matters. Stay connected to culture, and always have guidance and perspective.”

Drawing Us Together has officially begun, and our community storybook is starting to take shape.

Created in partnership with , this year’s project brings together powerful stories by young Indigenous authors and artwork from talented local students. Now it’s over to our community to decide which artworks get included in our final book.

Something special is coming to Carnes Hill Marketplace🎨✨

In celebration of NAIDOC Week 2026, Drawing Us Together returns to Carnes Hill Marketplace bringing together powerful stories by young Indigenous authors in partnership with Bandu, alongside artwork created by local school students.

Together, we’re building a community storybook, and soon we’ll be inviting you to vote for the illustrations you’d like to see featured in the final book.

Keep an eye out in Carnes Hill Marketplace, voting opens soon.

CENTRE AMBIENCE UPGRADE

We’re excited to share, we’ve taken your feedback on board and Carnes Hill Marketplace will soon undergo a significant internal and external ambience upgrade, alongside the introduction of a refreshed brand identity.

This goes beyond a new logo. We’re enhancing the overall appearance, comfort and customer experience across the centre. Upgrades will begin from the arrival experience, including a new brand and logo identity, improved seating, updated planting and refreshed façade finishes. Internally, the amenities - including the toilets and parents’ room will be upgraded with more contemporary finishes. New mall furniture and architectural detailing will be a welcomed addition throughout the mall.

Carnes Hill Marketplace will always remain your local, and we’re committed to making it an even better place to shop, visit and connect.

Thank you for your patience as these improvements are delivered. We look forward to sharing more details with you soon.
