Peter and the Prince Consort's Shoe Shine at the Strand is really one of the best I've ever used, let alone regularly patronised. I've lived across the US and in London at different times and it is actually quite a struggle to find a stand that delivers such consistently excellent service and shine to leather shoes. It's a world class small business, in other words!

Business is on the up and started to revisit some offices to clean shoes on a weekly basis.

Sales slightly improve each week. We are now turning over almost one third of what we achieved at the same time last year. We are now open from 9.00am to 4.00pm five days a week.

My landlord has told me that many large corporations are returning to work in Sydney tomorrow May 11th. I am being encouraged to reopen. The centre has been opening at 11.00am so I will arrive then and continue until at least 3.00pm. I will persist until at least Wednesday and then review. Please remember I now have tap and go. Due to the virus I have had to close the business. Little money was being made but we could also not work and keep a safe distance between ourselves and customers. Let's all hope this will soon become manageable. Stay safe and healthy and help those less fortunate than ourselves. Pete

We were invited to 259 George St yesterday to clean the shoes of the tenants in the lobby. For those who do not know my glamorous assistant in the photo it is my wife, Danielle. We met when she worked for me 22 years ago as a visiting backpacker from the UK. She was encouraged out of retirement and was as big a hit as ever!! We were "flat out like two lizards drinking"
