Above Karasawa Cirque in the Japanese Northern Alps on 27/05/26.
Lots of residual snow, steep neve, and a long way down.
The approach was more snow covered than expected for this time of year, and one of my hiking poles gave out on the way up. A couple of snow pegs and some improvisation later, we were moving again, before turning around when the gradient steepened into front pointing territory.
MicroSpikes handled everything the lower slopes threw at them, and performed well beyond expectation.
We're proud to bring Kahtoola to the Australian market. If you're heading into the high country this season, this is the traction device worth having in your pack.
