Forge de Laguiole x - The A350 XWB collaboration.

Inspired in Toulouse and born in Laguiole, this piece isn't just a beautifully forged tribute. It carries a real piece of the skies. The handle is crafted using actual aerospace-grade carbon fibre sourced directly from the Airbus A350 production.

Every detail is a nod to aerospace engineering:
✈️ The iconic Laguiole "bee" is forged into the shape of the A350's cockpit.
✈️ The folding tab mimics the sleek silhouette of the wings.
✈️ The spring is chiseled with an Omega shape, mirroring the aircraft's fuselage reinforcements.

Recently, the aircraft made global headlines as the 'Project Sunrise' test plane for , a specially modified A350-1000ULR, just completed the longest flight by a commercial aircraft in history! The plane flew a mammoth 24-hour, 24-minute non-stop journey from Melbourne to Toulouse, covering over 23,000 km across 17 time zones. During this epic flight the aircraft actually witnessed two sunrises and two sunsets. 🌍🌤️ This incredible milestone paves the way for the future of travel. Qantas is utilising a fleet of 12 customised A350-1000ULRs, each fitted with an extra 20,000-litre fuel tank to travel over 16,000 km non-stop. The first lead aircraft, beautifully named Vega, is expected for delivery in April 2027! This will kick off daily non-stop flights between Sydney and London starting in October 2027, with a New York service following shortly after. By cutting up to four hours off traditional one-stop routes, these 19 to 22-hour flights will completely redefine long-haul travel.

With the global A350 fleet having completed over 2 million flights across more than 1,365 routes, we want to know: where has the A350 taken you so far? Comment below! 👇

Behind every masterpiece from Forge de Laguiole is a visionary artisan. Master cutler .rambaud doesn’t just assemble materials, he breathes life into them. Known for his exceptional precision and award-winning eye for design, Stéphane has a rare gift for taking ancient, raw elements and transforming them into elegant, everyday art for your pocket.

Today, we are looking at two of his incredible creations that transport us back to the Ice Age, utilising responsibly sourced woolly mammoth materials preserved in the Siberian permafrost for over 10,000 years. 🦣❄️

On the left: A pure, uninterrupted masterpiece. This piece features a full handle made of stunning mammoth ivory, showcasing the natural, creamy patina of time. It is complemented by brass plates, an intricately hand-chiselled bee and Guilloché on the spring, and is finished with a stunning, rustic "brut de forge" steel.

On the right: A striking contrast. This creation features fossilised mammoth molar, a highly complex and dense material that has been stabilised in a green resin, resulting in an amazing play of colours.. Stéphane has paired this prehistoric gem with juniper wood bolsters, a perfectly detailed chiselled bee and Guilloché, and a satin stainless steel finish.

The best part? The green mammoth molar creation on the right is currently in stock in France and looking for its forever home. 🇫🇷✨

What do you do when a family heirloom breaks after two decades of service? You don’t discard it, you restore it. ✨🍷

This beautiful Forge de Laguiole corkscrew originally belonged to our customer Franck’s father. For years, it worked the floors of Melbourne hospitality icons like France Soir and Stokehouse. But after 20 years of faithful service, the tip of the blade finally snapped.

Instead of letting it go, Franck reached out to us to enquire about having it repaired. We sent the piece straight back to the Forge de Laguiole factory in France for a full restoration. The repair required a complete teardown and the factory custom-fitted a brand-new spiral, lever, and blade, with the original handle hand-polished back to a flawless shine.

The factory truly went above and beyond for this one:
The Blade: The original blade style had been discontinued for 15 years, but the factory re-created the same vintage style to keep the piece true to its roots.
The Engraving: While the original engraved lever couldn’t be saved during the teardown, they provided the perfect solution by replacing it and creating a beautiful, modern engraving.

Now, this polished masterpiece, returned alongside its original retired parts, is ready for its next chapter at Franck’s very own venue, Upper Middle

Swipe to the end to read Franck’s glowing review of his experience working with our team!

Behind the scenes at the factory... 🇫🇷
Once a Damascus blade is completely shaped and polished, it actually almost looks like standard steel. The magic happens in the acid bucket. The acid eats away at the layered steels at different rates, turning high-carbon dark and leaving nickel bright.

⚒️✨ Meet Stéphane Rambaud: A True Master of French Craftsmanship ✨⚒️

If you appreciate fine artisan work, you need to know about Stéphane Rambaud. Since 2005, he has been the visionary Master Cutler at Forge de Laguiole, and he is widely regarded as one of the absolute best in all of France! 🇫🇷

Here is what makes his work so extraordinary:

Completely Bespoke: Almost all pieces he creates are entirely custom-made to order. The design possibilities are practically limitless! From handles carved out of ancient mammoth ivory to incorporated parts from the Moon or Mars, if you can dream it, he can make it.

Pioneering New Techniques: His dedication to a client's vision knows no limits. Some custom requests are so complex that they require multiple prototypes and attempts. Stéphane regularly invents and develops entirely new crafting techniques just to ensure the final piece perfectly matches the customer's exact specifications.

Jewellery Detail: His creations are quite literally on par with high-end goldsmithing and fine jewellery. The meticulous guilloché work and intricate sculpting on the iconic Laguiole bee take days, sometimes weeks, of immense patience and precision.

A Hidden Signature: As a final mark of authenticity and immense pride in his craft, every single piece Stéphane creates bears his personal signature, which is usually discreetly inscribed on the inside of the spring.

Pure Art: He seamlessly blends historical French heritage with breathtaking artistic innovation. These aren not just everyday items, they are exceptional, one-of-a-kind works of art meant to be passed down through generations.
