Here's a recap of some of our favourite re-issues, compilations & archival releases through the shop this week!

THE NECESSARIES were a short-lived NYC power-pop band formed in 1978 and best-known retrospectively for the contributions of Arthur Russell and Modern Lovers' bassist Ernie Brooks. Their original catalogue has been out of print for many years, but the folks at Omnivore Recordings have issued a comprehensive anthology set titled Completely Necessary (Anthology 1978-1982) covering the bands' entire recorded output, available as a 3LP or 2CD set. An essential part of any Arthur Russell collection, but also a criminally overlooked band of the new-wave era. For fans of jangly 80's guitar-pop in the vein of early R.E.M and The Feelies.

Sydney locals daily.toll follow up their esteemed 2025 debut LP with a new collection of demos and home recordings mapping their initial formative period as a duo. Previously released on cassette, it has now been remastered for vinyl by Mikey Young with an additional track and pressed as a limited 12" LP via UK label Tough Love in an edition of 275.

The entire discography of San Francisco psychedelic-shoegaze outfit L*D and the Search for God is back in print (that's uh *checks notes* both EPs) with 12" colour vinyl and CD copies of the 2007 s/t debut and 2016's Heaven Is A Place available again.

Three classics from Melbourne downtempo duo HTRK (HTRK) are back in print via Ghostly International. All pressed on limited colourways, with Work (Work, Work) celebrating it's 15th anniversary this year.

All 3 albums from British indie-pop darlings The SUNDAYS are back in print on LP and CD. We had the records last year from the U.S. but these new editions are EU pressed and better priced!

Last but not least, tomorrow sees the long-awaited release of legendary Chapter Music Australian post-punk compilation Can't Stop It Volume 2, pressed on vinyl for the very first time! Secure a pre-order online now or pop by in-store from tomorrow (Friday 04/09) to grab a copy.

It's been another busy week of arrivals through the shop! We've got new records out today from Interpol, Dinosaur Jr. and Pulp (Live at the O2 Arena), plus a backlog of new releases from earlier this month which have finally found their way into the racks. A big release drop coming up tomorrow! (28/08)

We'll have new records and CDs from Interpol, Dinosaur Jr. and Pulp (live) plus the kind folks at Inertia Vinyl and Rocket have thrown in some freebies to go along with all purchases! Interpol buyers get a signed insert, whilst Dino Jr. and Pulp fans get a free sticker (while stocks last)

There's also new records out tomorrow from , Alabama Shakes, Russian Circles and Mastodon which we're hoping to have in the next week or so. Stay tuned.

At long last, the highly sought-after unreleased studio tracks from The Cramps' October 1977 Memphis sessions with Alex Chilton have been unlreashed!

With tracks selected and mixed in the late 1980s, Gravest Gravy was designated by Lux and Ivy for release years ago, but for reasons lost to time, remained shelved until now. Completely rippin' versions of classic early Cramps tracks, two of which feature Alex Chilton on organ. Cut from the analog source tapes, and mastered expertly in Nashville. Stay sick! Turn blue!

Colour vinyl in stock now, CD copies expected next week.

We're excited for the forthcoming Cameron Winter live album, the 2nd installment in Chapter Music's excellent Australian post-punk archival series Can't Stop It, the 25th anniversary re-issue of Unwound's monumental 2001 album Leaves Turn Inside You, deluxe box set re-issues of The Beatles' Rubber Soul and Sunnyboy's eponymous debut, plus new records from Fontaine's DC, Protomartyr, Julia Jacklin, Dinosaur Jr, Beabadoobee & so much more!

"Mutant are proud to present the premiere physical media release of 3x Academy Award-Winning composer Ludwig Göransson's original soundtrack to Christopher Nolan's new 2026 motion picture The Odyssey - a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology."

3LP 140-gram black vinyl housed in deluxe tri-fold sleeve with 24-page liner notes by Nolan, Goransson plus archeomusicologists and ethnomusicologists. In-stock for $100.

We also had a few CD copies which flew out the door, keep your eyes peeled for a re-stock hopefully next week!

"I heard CDs are coming back?" ... They never went away champ! Here's some recent developments in the world of the compact disc we're excited about:

1. The Sundays catalogue has received a long overdue CD remaster series, with the bands' flawless 3 album run from 1990-1997 back in print.

2. Due to popular demand, Eddy Current Suppression Ring's excellent 2026 record 'In Light Of Recent Events' has been newly pressed to CD after initially being a vinyl only release.

3. We've been expanding our range of back-catalogue new CD reissues to include titles from Nick Drake, Bikini Kill, Hum and Bad Brains to go with our usual classics from Alex G, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley et al.

4. We're slowly making a dent in our archive of 5,000+ unprocessed 2nd hand titles. With hundreds of new additions hitting the racks weekly, you can trust us when we say CDs will never die 😏
