New piece in the works 🪡

Been a while, but I'm getting back into creative mode after a house move and school holidays demanded more of my attention and art took a far back seat 😅

The centre and friendship star patchwork pieces have been waiting for their time to be worked into a larger piece, and it is now slowly coming into being.

Looking forward to seeing how this piece grows.

Gorgeous colours from a small batch of Argyle Apple eucalyptus leaves I gathered while on holiday recently.

The wool yarn swatches on the right were dyed in the liquid strained off after 5-10 minutes of simmering, while the ones on the left were dyed in the dye bath created with the same leaves afterwards and left to sit and simmer on and off for a few more days.

Three successive swatches were dyed in each bath with progressively lightening/varying colour results.

I love the deep burnt oranges, but the apricot shades are gorgeous too 🍁🍂

"River Runs Through" - a small patchwork wall quilt featuring naturally dyed colours that remind me of where I grew up in semi-arid South Australia.

Dry hot summers, icy cold winter mornings

The dry brown dirt and grasses which gave way to blades of green grass in late autumn

Fiery sunsets and fields of golden crops

The eucalypts green leaves; their blackened trunks where fire ran through.

The rivers and often dry creek beds which run through the landscape.

Just listed.
