📚✨ Back to school... already!

This morning, like so many families, we packed lunchboxes, zipped up backpacks, gave one last hug, and sent our little ones off for another school term.

As parents, we can't be with them every moment of the day... but we can remind them that Jesus is. ❤️

That's why we're so excited to introduce our brand new Good Shepherd Backpack Buddy! 🐑

Designed to clip onto backpacks, lunch bags or pencil cases, it's a sweet little reminder that the Good Shepherd is watching over them wherever they go.

Praying for a wonderful, safe and joy-filled term for all our school-aged little ones. May they grow in wisdom, kindness, confidence and faith.

I wish I'd taken a photo, but the place was absolutely buzzing today. Everyone was so happy to be there that it was hard to drag ourselves away in the end... although leaving with a couple more good books certainly softened the blow. 🤏😅

At this rate, I'm going to need another bookcase!

Do we ever stop needing our mums? 🥰

This week I've been trying to play catchup on my orders and my mama came to the rescue. She's much better on a sewing machine than I am, so if you've been waiting patiently, I can think of no better reward than her handiwork 💛

I'm so blessed to have such wonderful parents - both equally creative, and to this day such an amazing support.

As my kids get older I sometimes miss being needed they way they needed me as littles. And I wonder if this feeling will get worse as they become adults.

Then I look at my parents and laugh... If they haven't been able to shake me off then my kids have no chance! 🤪

Trusted with generosity, miracles, and somehow making our five-loaves budget work.

Ensures all doctrine remains 100% Nicene approved. Not afraid to cc the entire world in an email if heresy appears.

🔥 Faith — St Simon the Tanner
Specialises in mountain-moving confidence and reminding us that simple faith is what God loves best.

⚔️ Strategy — St George
Bold leadership. Decisive action. Excellent under pressure. Will absolutely defeat any and all dragons before the next quarterly meeting.

📚 Education — St Habib Girgis
Head of curriculum, discipleship, and helping little hearts and minds grow in the Lord.

😇 Fun & Mischief — St Abanoub
In charge of joy, chaos, snack acquisition, and keeping everyone young at heart.

Honestly, with a board like this, we’re in very good hands 🤍 🙏

I still can't believe I'm writing this...

So happy to be able to say that you can now get mustard seed kids co products at in Ramsgate!!!

I'm so blessed and proud to have my things in such a beautiful space - this bookshop is AMAZING and if you haven't been yet, you must!

Such an wonderful selection of books, gifts and great coffee to boot. The team there are so friendly and as the kids say - it's definitely a vibe 🔥👌

Might be my new favourite spot to relax and watch the world go by with a good book - so come find me (and my little offering) there!

Today, we celebrate a giant of the Church - St Athanasius the Apostolic

One of my favourite stories from the synexarium is his 'discovery'. As a boy, Athanasius was found on the beach in Alexandria playing 'baptism' with his friends.

The Pope was passing by and stopped to watch them. Just children playing church.
Pretending. Watching. Absorbing. Becoming.

And yet he saw in that little boy a defender of the faith, a pillar of Orthodoxy, and one of the greatest saints in Church history.

This story stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it. Because how often do we underestimate the holy little things our children are doing?

The pretend liturgies.
The tiny prayer corners.
The “baptisms” in the bath.
The church songs sung off-key in the back seat.

What looks like play to us may actually be formation.

Because who knows what God is planting in these small moments 🌱

It's why I set St Athanasius as one of Mustard Seed Kids Co's executives (you'll meet the others soon). May he help us all raise our little saints to stand for truth as he did and to know and love The One who created them 💛

Some saints went searching for martyrdom. And some were just out buying watermelon 🍉

Today our church celebrates Saint Dolagy and her four sons.

This woman was a hero.

She raised boys whose love for Christ wasn’t only for church walls or quiet prayers at home. It followed them into ordinary moments - into the marketplace, into laughter, into everyday life.

Even as young boys, they were ready to witness to their faith without hesitation.

What kind of mother raises children like that?

Not perfect children, not sheltered children. But children who know, deeply, who they belong to.

And when she heard what was happening, she dropped everything and ran to them.

I cannot even begin to imagine how she was able to take each son onto her lap, comforting them, strengthening them, holding them as one by one they gave their lives for Christ… until at last she joined them herself.

What a mother.

If our one task became helping our children get to Heaven… how would our parenting change?

Would we slow down a little more? Pray a little more? Worry less about appearances and more about their hearts? Choose presence over perfection?

Mother Dolagy reminds me that the greatest thing we can give our children isn’t a perfect childhood - it’s a deep and lasting love for Christ 💛
..And maybe this part isn’t tradition, but I like to think that when they arrived, He had the biggest, juciest watermelon slices waiting for them in heaven!
